Does Josh Norman Grow up this year?

Recommended Posts

Here is a good way of looking at it.

Cam newton year 1, 2, and 3 - Improved every year and made significant strides

Norman 1, 2, 3 - Made little to no improvement and is on bench most games

Now what do you think will happen in year 4?

Saw this on BBR and looks like a great topic.

I don't any of us can argue that the boy has talent.   He can really play the position.

What his problem is, he wants to play rogue.  He doesn't want to play within the scheme and each piece has to do their part.  He didn't seem to get it.

Hopefully he has matured and has got it.    I would hate for us to lose his talent.  Especially since we are thin at DB.

Good Luck Josh.

Thoughts?

What has he done to show he can play the position? He gets beat like a drum.

I don't call what he does playing rogue. Opposing QBs know he can't cover

Norman is like most players with good physical skills coming from a second or even a third tier team.  It is taking him time to adapt to the NFL and the level of competition he now faces.  Silatolu went through the same transition.  Hopefully Norman steps up and becomes a solid contributor this year.  I don't think that we can say he is a bust yet.  It takes most players at least their rookie year to learn to play in the NFL.  Obviously those from smaller programs used to facing lower competition will need longer to adjust.  The flashes of greatness are just as real as the flashes of being lost.

I'd say the boy is on a very, very short leash. He wasn't even valued enough for Special Teams to be active on game day. I just hope that this year the coaches recognize the problem before they put him in a game. Last year he said all the right things, played lights out in preseason, then regressed when it counted & wasn't accountable when his teammates needed him to be. I'm not counting on him because I don't think others can trust him to do his job. And that is the bigger problem.
