And yeah, seriously, we have bigger issues to fug with than feelings in this country. How about we fix bigger important issues instead of feelings

 

 

nobody said this was our biggest issue in this country but it's fuging ridiculous when people like you act like this issue is somehow detracting from the "real issues" in this country. it's not.  if you don't care, by all means, voice your displeasure over the internet that people do actually care, but don't act like taking action on this issue, making a statement on this issue, is somehow downplaying any other issues the nation faces.

 

edit: well your post was basically "stop fuging around with this and fix our economy."  did you notice who put out the video?  so you're telling this native american action group to fix a problem they have literally nothing to do with, instead of addressing an issue they actually do have something to do with?

The team name is racist, that's why.  It has nothing to do with being soft, it's disrespectful and ridiculous.

 

Not sure where politician stuff comes in.  I don't think this add was created by either the Dems nor the Pubs.

Never understood why they don't change it to the "Washington Natives".  I feel like that would be just as honorable to the Native Americans without being completely ignorant in the process.  Plus they could keep the logo relatively intact.

 

Worst part of this argument is when people bring up the blackhawks or braves and ask if I care about those team names.  It is the quickest way to end an intelligent conversation.

The Washington name is offensive and the Cleveland logo is offensive. But those are the only Native American themed teams I think are in dire need of fixing. Also while I don't think it's super offensive I think it's a little odd to name your team after an entire race of people. The Braves is a pretty good name because it's specifically referring to the warriors of a certain culture, no different than naming a team the Knights, Vikings or Samurai.

 

Also since threads always seem to go this way, I'm not trying to claim that people don't have the right to be offended however much they want by whatever they want, but that doesn't mean people who are offended should always get their way.

it really shouldn't matter how many people are offended and if we should let people who are offended get their way. there are certain words that are simply inappropriate for use as a team name, and racial slurs are part of that list.

Didn't studies come out saying 90% of native Americans didn't find it offensive?

I think they were "studies" financed by the team. I can conduct a study to back any narrative I choose. I just want Washington fans to be miserable, is that too much to ask?
