If they say they are, they are. They never called themselves either of those made up names. Those are names by the oppressors given to them. Again, West Meck changed from the Indians(made up derogatory name) to the Hawks or something. Like the commercial says, "They have many names, but they never called themselves X."

I expected to see a video of RG3 dressed like an indian,  doing a commercial ,  when I first clicked on this thread.

 

 

 

Seriously,  I kept waiting...  they kept  going through a list of names, I expected one of the final names to be "RG3".

It's a name of a team.

They aren't targeting natives, and bashing them. They aren't saying bad things.

It's a fricken name.

If they don't call themselves redskins, all the more reason why they shouldn't be offended.

Unfortunately, this is the age where if you are offended, you can make money.

You can even cost a family man his job cause you're easily offended, and have to prove who the biggest asshole is.

While you get to stroke your wounded fricken ego, a long career has come to an unexpected end. Costing the family far more than some hurt feelings.

All that being said, there is better names the Washington franchise can come up with.

None of those are real slurs, more like the Cleveland Wetbacks, or the Clevaland Chinks. Now those are comparable to Redskin.

Some of y'all just don't get it. When you come from a privileged place in our society, I can see why you would say that. It may not be a 'slur' but it's still disrespectful. I'll just leave it at this:

I'll start caring when a significant portion of the Native American community starts actually being offended, rather than a few isolated groups government officials are blowing up to show everyone how "cool and progressive" they are. This is a fabricated issue by people who want there to be a problem.
