Cam Newton BELIEVES in the USMNT

i think you may have missed my points.  i will simplify by asking two questions:

1)  Do you think the USMNT represents our nations most athletic players?

2)  Do you believe that all the great national teams are filled with their respective nations most athletic players?

I agree you dont have to be 6'6 245 and run faster and be more athletic than every other soccer player in the world to be successful, but do you believe that wouldnt help?  It would be fun to see our top athletes compete against those guys but I think we would keep up if not be better.  We will likely never find out so we will never know for sure.  I am just saying that if soccer was our #1 sport, we would be waayyyyyyyyy better than we are now in the World Cup because our team we have our best athletes on the team rather than these 3rd tier guys.

1) No

2) Maybe... but probably not.

MNT players ARE more than likely the best soccer players we (and other countries) can produce and who have had exposure to the system.

No real arguments from me on the statements you made in your paragraph. If there was no American football we would probably be better..I think it goes to economics.. we can throw gazillions into development programs and the world's best training facilities where other nations just don't have the cheddar... kids would go to academies from a young age and be affiliated with top programs before they could drive a car. And we would kick ass.

That said, football is our game. Bring on collisions and violence bitches.

Yeah, that part friggin sucks.. but it's looked down on now more than it used to be.

You think the NFL doesn't have some actors? The Tuck Rule? A 350lb OL falling on his ass to draw an offsides rule? PI near the end-zone? ;)

You forgot Jimmy Graham being slammed to the ground by Chris gamble...

Soccer blows. The primary soccer audience in America are the families of the kids playing. The reason it is so popular everywhere else is because it is the only game in town. How in the hell did someone invent a sport where you can't use your hands? I laugh every time I think about it.

I do like penalty kicks though.

Going to a soccer game tonight.

I'm sure there are copious amounts of Rugby fans who cite a similar argumentative point about Football. Let's not go down this road shall we? Soccer is the world's sport. No other sport comes close.

yup, i didn't discover how beautiful of a sport it was until just recently.  no one in my family gives a poo about it, so i was just raised being told it was boring and slow.  started watching about 5-6 years ago and have been hooked ever since.  it's now my second favorite sport (american football is still first).  but all it took was me giving it a chance and i fell in love.

I have played soccer  for 7 years, i loved that sport back then but today this is by far the most roten sport in the world and at every level..

in 1999 i switched from soccer to football, i still support our national team but not as much as before, especialy since the disaster in south Africa.

I am not watching a single game from our championship or EU championships.
If for you this is a rather new sport for me it is a nearly dead sport, killed by money.

I am still watching the girls! The soccer played by females is spared, and the ladies are playing well, really well and some in the national squad are real beauties so this is all good.

my coworker was trying to talk to me about soccer/the world cup and i was like "that poo is so boring" and she was all "but its the most popular sport in the world!!!" and then i was all like "yeah because the rest of the world is third world countries and the only sport they can afford is soccer since all you need is a ball and functional feet/legs" and then she got all mad at me and has brought it up a few times without ever actually explaining how soccer is fun to watch.

how is watching people kick a ball around fun

Soccer infuriates me at times when teams go max protect with a 1-0 lead with half the game left. And the flopping.

You must love French soccer this is all about attacking attacking attacking and attacking again and when the coach say defense defense defense we are attacking a litle less.

And of course you must hate Italian soccer, this is all about defense, defense, defense, acting, defense and more acting and defense.
