I ain't gonna lie, only reason I care if we win the WC in the slightest is so I can gloat to my buddies from other countries about the win & the fact that after the parade, only about 2-3,000 Americans will care any more.

With Portugal and Germany i wish you luck but you will need much more than luck. ;)

Portugal is a good team but they are not as good as before so you can win.

Germany will destroy you..

You can crush or be crushed by Ghana, this is an inconsistent team but they are still very dangerous.

I give you 30% chance to make it to the second round

 

Our group (France) is much easier, but our team is unproven, but young and promising, but really really unproven as a group..

No way to prove either way of course, but take a Cam or Lebron and give them a soccer ball at 5 years old and let them play thru college and it shouldnt be that hard to imagine how, wait for it:

 

 

brilliant they would be.  I know size, speed and strength isnt everything, but I can guarantee Messi hasnt gone up against the athletic freaks that play basketball and football here in the states.  You cant say they dont have the capability to develop(if they dont have it already) the proper footwork to play futbol at a very high level.

 

Well give some Indian dude a basketball at 5 years old and let them play that instead of cricket...... And so on.

 

You make it sound like USA is the only country that have Lebron and Cam type of people. Maybe the case is that playing soccer requires something other than being big and fast. 

 

Name me one major sport in which USA dominates other than basket where the gap has narrowed quite a bit the last 10 years.?

Culture above most things decide which sport you priorities. In Germany for example 20% of the population play soccer. What that means is that in most contries the Lebrons and The Cams are not doing any sport or are not getting the best training etc because basket and american football is not a prioritized sport but soccer is or ping pong whatever.

 

Saying that because Lebron is the best in a sport your own culture prioritize, then they would be the best in any other sport if they wanted to is just stupid. Its like saying Ronaldo by being one of the best in world at soccer would be the best WR in NFL if he just wanted to. Stupid.

Looks like they'll play a friendly behind closed doors against my very own Belgium. Let's hope we'll meet again in one of the next rounds!

 

Belgium is a real underdog with a player like Eden, they can go very far.

Eden should be playing for France since he is Zidane 2.0 :p

Lebron might be able to play Center Back or Goalie with his current physique but he would have to lose a ton of weight to get up and down the field for 90 minutes.

 

If you want to talk about great American athletes that could play soccer, talk about Steve Smith. Quick, agile, physical, leaping ability, and did I say quick? You put Steve in the German youth system and he would rise to the top. I know his son is a pretty good player but not like a prodigy.
