Hornets Are Interested In McDermott At #9?

I am having a hard time finding many wing players that scored at a high rate 23ppg+ and at a high efficiency rate 50% fg+ 40% 3point%+ 80% FT%+.

All the examples I can think of are from back in the 80's and 90's and some are hard to cross reference because there was no 3 point line for parts of their career.

I am sure I have overlooked someone who may have busted in the NBA so far the only ones that have similar efficiency and ppg are

Larry Bird

Chris Mullin

Reggie Miller

Glen Rice

Wally Szczerbiak

Bo Kimble (busted in NBA, but seriously he should be disqualified just for playing on the Paul Westhead Loyola team)

Len Bias

Those are the names I could find, Mullin and Bird didn't play in three point era so they may not count, but I included them because they are considered great outside shooters.

I am sure there are others but I even looked up Rodney Monroe, Dennis Scott, Walt WIlliams, Mark Macon, etc to try and find more examples.

There just isn't a whole lot of precedent for high scorers with super high efficiency like that.  I couldn't really find any since '90 except Wally

I am not saying he is any of those guys BTW, just showing how rare it is to have a perimeter shooter that scores 23+ppg and maintains a high efficiency rate.

If Stauskas goes at 8, it means Randle, Gordon, etc will be there at 9. Why the hell would we take McD!!!!! I can't stand these McD craps anymore.

Lol, that doesn't mean Randle would be there.

Embiid, Wiggins, Parker, Exum, Smart, Randle, Vonleh will be 7 of the first 8 picked. We won't get a shot at any of them.

Coming from the guy with an "Alice in Wonderland" character as his handle and avatar  :D

Madhatter is a damn fine IPA beer that is brewed by New Holland that I enjoy on occassion.....

And the avatar is a picture of Tom Petty from one of his album covers.....great artist.

Neither have anything to do with Alice in Wonderland.

Thanks for playing though

Tom Petty dressed as Madhatter and a beer that pictures Madhatter on it's label.

It has nothing to do with anything other than "Alice in Wonderland"

Nice try tho

Could care less what the picture is on the beer label.....I picked the name because I enjoy the taste of the beer.  Not because of the picture.

Nice try.

There is nothing wrong with enjoying the literary classic Alice in Wonderland. You don't have to run from it.

You just like beer and pictures of Tom Petty that just happen to be in reference to Alice in Wonderland? What a coincidence!

The things that worry me about McDermott are limited but significant.

- He's a tweener, historically tweener's don't succeed in the NBA unless they have supreme skill and athleticism.

- His agility for his size... He's not quick and will struggle guarding faster three's and bigger four's. Finally, the P&P will have to be his bread and butter because I doubt people will leave him open very often. Is he fast enough to escape the defender in P&P situations.

I don't know.

I like Sam Adams beer too...does not mean that I do so because of a label and reference to men from the Revolutionary War era.

Keep reaching....

Your second comment is what worries me as well.

Is he athletic enough?  I just don't know.
