Hornets Are Interested In McDermott At #9?

Really you call that breaking somebody down with the dribble.

I'm sorry that looks more  like getting the 1st step on a slow footed guy who won't see a NBA court.

This is breaking somebody down with the dribble

This is a person he will have to guard by the way.

Those McDermott highlights are awful. Watching him plod along made me tired. In that @2:45 one, if he had more athleticism, he wouldn't have needed to almost kill himself to get that one off.

Contrast that to Harrison Barnes, who is not a good ball handler, but who does have decent speed and athleticism which still makes him a "potential" threat, once he makes his move and the guy bites, he's at the rim before Joe Johnson can recover, unlike McDermott who had a college guy ride his hip all the way too the basket because he's not quick enough to get by someone, who like you said, will probably never play on an NBA court. That's not going to work out for him at the next level.

Lol at thinking you need tight handles to break someone down off the dribble.

Comprehension / Understanding of playing tight, jab stepping / first step, hesitation, body shielding not once haha

Understanding your playing against a future accountant at Comcast and able to run past him.

The realization of the differences in Nba talent will come soon.

You are missing the point, unless you have alien level freakish arms, it is near impossible to block a jump hook over the off shoulder when the person's body is shielding him.

Do you know the avg. wingspan of NBA 2' 3' and 4'?

Do you remember what happened to Cody (a 7'0 footer with a better post game and more athletic ability) a lot this year? Block after block after block.

im still undecided on who id pick at nine (btw, hi all - first post, hope you dont mind me commenting). i like nik stauskas, and think SG is the position in need of most upgrade.... but it seems that alot of picks from 9-18 range are of the same level and so could go anywhere. wouldnt it be wise to trade the #9 pick for the suns or bulls two mid range picks and try and stock-pile assets? - giving us flexibility like the rockets have over the last couple of years for a big trade? - of course this is dependant upon one of those teams falling in love with someone that falls to #9, which maybe might happen if gordon falls.... then with the two picks we may realistically draft adrien payne and whichever wing falls to the second pick (either stauskas, hood, young, harris, lavine or mcdermott)?

if the hornets are to gamble on someone, i think saric is the way to go - i think outside of the top 5, he has the most potential, but i cant see charlotte taking a european big

Find me video of Cody getting a hook shot over the opposite shoulder blocked.

Do you think McDermott is throwing a sky hook or something? ?

1st off at 6'7 220 he isn't getting the position he got in college in the pro's to throw that hook.

Don't know if there's a video of it, but Anthony Davis blocked a hook shot of Zeller in college.

Sent from my iPhone using CarolinaHuddle

There are different types and variations of hook shots. I doubt very seriously Davis blocked Zeller doing an over the off shoulder jump hook with his body shielding off Davis.

You do realize how having to close out someone and play them close makes getting the angle on them as simple as one hard jab or fake?

You do realize that playing a college PF is way different then playing NBA talented wing players?

Clue

The NBA guy are pretty quick on close outs and a lot better at keeping a slower player from the basket.

It is way different for a post college player to switch to a perimeters player. On the defense and offensive end.

Just a question what positions do you think he can play at a starter level?
