Hornets Are Interested In McDermott At #9?

I like Sam Adams beer too...does not mean that I do so because of a label and reference to men from the Revolutionary War era.

Keep reaching....

pffft.  You know you only sip on Johnnie Walker Blue while yelling at your gardeners to quit being lazy and get a real job

Can't stand Whiskey, Bourbon, or Scotch.

I am a beer drinker 99% of the time.

Only time I drink anything else is when I sit on the back deck with a nice cigar and a good glass of wine.

And, I don't ever have to yell at my gardners.....they always do a fantastic job.

He's another tall, lanky guy.  Not athletic enough to cover 3's in the NBA (something everyone has killed McD about, but Saric will get a pass).  But unlike McD, he can't shoot (30% from 3 last year).  He's a good rebounder, and has some pretty good post moves, but acting like he's head and shoulders above McD is pretty ridiculous.

I'm not, but he has the advantage due to a higher upside. Plus, he's an all around player on both floor. Does everything well, compare to McD just being an efficient shooter.

McD is an average rebounder and pretty terrible under the basket. A lot of shots being block from there. That's not what you want from a PF. He's not going to play SF bc he doesn't have the speed to defend them. I'm projecting both guys as 4s, not 3s.

Dario will help move the ball around. And, he's a pretty advanced dribbler just from watching HLs. Really solid attacking the rim and scoring or passing.

No one is saying he's head and shoulders above McD, but the edge goes to him.

I don't want Gordon. He just doesn't fit what we do. For all of McD's alleged faults (most that I disagree with) at a bare minimum he stretches the floor for Kemba and Big Al.

I do not understand the level of hate (for lack of a better term) on McD. He might be the best shooter to come out in the last 5-10 years. He is #1 in shooting efficiency in all 3 categories. Catch and shoot, off of screens, and off the dribble according to DX. It is a guy that doesn't need to be a volume shooter to score a lot of points.

You don't score 27 ppg and shoot 55% while being game planned for every game by great coaches in the Big East or MVC by being what many of you guys refer to as a one trick pony.

I got $20 saying he barely avg. 12 pts his rookie year.

They actually have a lot of the same deficiencies. They both have poor lateral quickness, they both will struggle with stronger players in the NBA, they both are liabilities on defense. But McD has a skill he's GREAT at. And, coincidentally, it is a skill we desperately need. Dario is not as good at any area of his game as McD is at perimeter shooting.

I really do not like anyone after the consensus top 8 guys. Unless, we go with Ennis. I'm a fan of Harris too, but it's up in the air after the top 8.

I rather trade the 9th pick for Harrison Barnes than trying to debate over McD and Dario.
