No Kemo

Nobody on the coaching staff runs it or has ran it.

No time too get sombody who knows it.

No time too get the player too learn it and still have a Avg. def.

No more 3-4 talk untill Fox is not head coach.

No more 3-4 threads this year please.

PS: Lets start the Old Buddy Ryan 4-6 threads now.

Does Peppers really want to be in a 3-4 ?

Or has he been saying that in an effort to play in a defense where he is free to rush the passer from more angels !

I feel Peppers wants to reach his potential as a H O F pass rusher

And if Meeks defense allows that ,he will sign .

As for the 3-4

Without KEMO to anchor the NT ,a 3-4 is not a good option

nah, I'm gonna go start a thread and convince people we should adopt that UFO Formation that the Cleveland Browns brought out last season. We could just run that the entire game and we would definately get some extra face time on ESPN.

fox is 4-3 guy, meeks is a 4-3 guy, we do not have the personnel for a 3-4 mainly because in order to run one you need a big NT which would have been kemo. plus it isnt as easy as just waking up one morning and changing he whole defensive scheme weve drafted for since fox got here.

You hit the nail on the head. 1. Kemo is more of a 3-4 NT. 2. You just can't change into a 3-4. Thank you dpanthersman for knowing football. Who ever started this thread doesn't know dick

Could you show me the blueprint or chalk on how that lines up?

A NT in the 3-4 is a truly rare beast in this day and age. They have to be able to take on and tie up a center, a guard and often a blocking back on each and every play. They have to look like Andre the Giant fighting off a swarm of midget wrestlers every down of every game.

Someone once said a good nose tackle is country strong -- they should be able to throw 75-lb. feedbags all day, carry calves and pigs, pull a plow when needed, bend anvils back into shape and get up the next morning to do it all again, with a smile and an aw-shucks, tain't nothin' attitude. It doesn't require a mean streak, but it does require someone who can joyfully engage in a fray.

"I fight gangs for local charities and stuff. " Andre the Giant as Fezzik in The Princess Bride.

Besides, the 4-3 fits Meeks' defensive philosophy better and won't require a rewrite of our defensive playbook. I really think we ought to find Jordan Carstens out there somewhere. Talk about country strong...

Julius Pepeprs would QUIT before he played DE in a 3-4. Are you kidding me? Look up Aaron Smith's career sack numbers for the Steelers. By the way if you have never heard of him he plays 3-4 end and is probably the best at it in the NFL.

True.

NT, and DE in the 3-4 are very tough to find. Especially the NT.

Wilfork, Hampton, Ngata, and Williams are probably the best in the biz. With Jenkins possibly making a push. Watch those teams when one of them are out of the lineup, and you can see just how valueable they are.
