Stauskas To Work Out For Hornets Wednesday

Recommended Posts

Check the tail end of the season... 6 points, 9 points, 11 points, 10 points, then up to 25 points, 21 points etc... If that's not inconsistent then I don't know what is.

As for that step back jumper, guys in the NBA are taller and longer, he needs more than one move if he wants to be successful.

Let's not forget, I like Stauskas but it's stupid to act like he doesn't have any flaws in his game.

Yes, his numbers were down at the end of the season but he was also double teamed and gameplanned for as the #1 option for Michigan.

He doesn't need to be the number one option for us... He needs to be the dead eye shooter he is and spread the floor for Al and Kemba.

Stauskas will only get better. People that have played and know basketball know Stauskas> Henderson... Hendo is a 2 guard who cant make an NBA 3 (pre-requisite for being a damn shooting guard) and Stauskas was challenged by Steph Curry to a 3 pt contest (b/c he's lights out). Staus can hit 3's off the dribble, step-backs, crossovers.... Hendo doesn't even have that capability.

We need a shooter that can get HOTT.. Literally come down and set the roof off the arena with 4 straight trey balls.... No one on the roster offers that but when you watch the playoffs you see.... Curry get hot... Redick at times... Danny Green... Ariza... Mike Miller... etc.

The Hornets need that guy... Who every time he shoots it you think its going in.

Also, there is no way Hendo can bring the ball down court and get us into our offense. Stauskas has the ability to bring the ball down the court and let Kemba play off the ball some. He is more than capable of getting us into the offense and has the size and athleticism to guard opposing 2 guards.

Just my opinion. But pure shooter 6'6 with good handle, great work ethic, obsessed with bball > Hendo experiment.... No more fadeaway 15 footers.

I'm waiting on the team to bring in Saric for a work out.

I am as well. I'm wondering if we have a day set up solely for power forwards with Saric, Vonleh, Randle, McDermott, and Gordon coming in.

We did something similar at the small forward position when we brought in Early, Antetokounmpo, Fair, Daniels, and Robinson coming in.

Stauskas sure doesn't lack confidence.

He said he's out to prove everyone wrong.

^^^^^^^^^^   Exactly. This has been my gripe with people comparing Stauskas to Morrison.... Ammo's biggest issue was confidence. He was timid, quiet, etc...

Also, Morrison wasn't a pure shooter like Stauskas. He was a scorer at Gonzaga who couldn't handle the jump in talent in the NBA and didn't know how to not be "the guy". He was also just awkward and every time I met him around Charlotte he seemed out of it.

I like Stauskas because he played 2nd fiddle to guys like Hardaway Jr. and Burke then took over as the Michigan leader when they left. He didn't even go home over the summer. He stayed at school to get stronger and better... Y'all should check out the documentary on him on Youtube if you haven't seen it.

The kid is obsessed with basketball. He posts motivational letters for himself all around where he is living to stumble upon the next day.

He may not be an all star but he is exactly what we need in my opinion... Dead-eye shooter with great size who can handle the ball as well.

why not both?  package both our later 2 picks and Henderson for AA, and draft

Stauskas at 9?   AA helps Stauskas break into the league while getting us

an immediate scoring thread at position of need.

I wouldn't mind throwing in next year's first if needed.  It will be a late round pick

with AA clearing the lanes for Big Al, and we're loaded with too many young players

already.  Gonna be a lot of contracts coming due in the same time frame.

Here are some tweets...

@rick_bonnell: Stauskas is from Ontario, one of a handful of Canadians who will be drafted June 26. Andrew Wiggins also from Canada.

@rick_bonnell: Stauskas showing off quite a shooting stroke.

@rick_bonnell: Stauskas working out for only 4 teams: Hornets, Celtics, Lakers and Suns. This was his 1st workout.

@rick_bonnell: BTW, Nik Stauskas showed up for Hornets workout in teal sneakers. Guess he does his research.

@rick_bonnell: Stauskas: "(They) need a guy who can space the floor and knock down shots. I can definitely do that."

@rick_bonnell: Nik Stauskas has a lot of self-confidence. You need to believe in yourself to succeed at the NBA level, and he sure radiates confidence.
