Welcome new DT, George Hypolite

Generally I agree Capt, but Kemo wasn't drafted either, he worked his way up over a couple years in B'More. Albeit, none of the guys we have at DT are as big as Kemo, so that's not working in their favor, but hopefully they'll be stout and bring some other things to the table...

Lonnie Harvey is 3 pounds lighter but Im not saying he can be as good just that we do have one guy that can eat space if need be.

Sounds like Hippo-Lite to me.

Never seen a "lite" Hippopotamus. :D

regardless of their weight...

Hippos have been clocked at 18 mph (29 km/h) over short distances. The hippopotamus is one of the most aggressive creatures in the world and is often regarded as the most ferocious animal in Africa.

from wiki

I hope he is Hippo like

Watch this video, 4:12 mark. George H squats 665lbs.

Listening to this interview, it sounds like he'd be a good fit. He sounds like a coach more than a player; very mature, even keeled. I'm sure Fox will love him since it appears he's quoting from Fox's book of cliches. Seriously, it will be interesting if he makes the team. IMO Practice Squad at best, but possibly no more than camp fodder. I'm pulling for him, though.

I don't think we need another DT the size of Kemo. IMO we need DTs who are fast and able to put pressure on the QB. Yes, Kemo was able to keep blockers off of Beason by taking up space but those blockers won't be bothering Beason if they are having to backpeddle to keep the DT out of the backfield.

:iagree:

We can't underestimate the loss of Kemo, but we can't overestimate it either, especially in this new scheme that emphasizes speed. This was something Kemo wasn't known for, and I think Meeks will tailor the defensive strategy that plays to the strengths of our personnel. This should effectively compensate for missing Kemo.

Great video, man. Thanks for posting it. Hopefully we will see that kind of work if he does start in the regular season. It would be nice if he is like the next "farm boy" we once has that replaced Kris Jenkins twice.

I am kinda in this thought as well...

Think.... We have had big DT's the last several years... With them our defense has continued to get worse.

Maybe faster guys who can jet through the line and get in the backfield is exactly what we need.

We might have been forced in the right direction and didnt even notice it.....
