Nate Chandler Future Left Tackle?

Jeremy Igo

Recommended Posts

On the topic, Chandler has the more prototypical left tackle physique.

Bell is built more like a right tackle, or a guard.

Yeah, I see this. Chandler has the size and athleticism you need at LT. Whereas Bell...not so much. Then again, Bell has a tough time over on the right side.

I am kinda torn. I would prefer Chandler at LT, but if that is where Bell is better? What to do?

Same dilemma.

I wonder if ultimately you have to go with what's the best combo as opposed to just slotting whomever is better on the left into that spot and moving the other guy right.

I have heard that Bell is trying to lose weight. If so, maybe that will help as well. I mean, if LT is his best position. We pretty much need to go in that direction. As long as he can beat out Chandler.

I know we want the best guy at LT. Cam's blind side is mucho importante. Part of me wants Bell to win, but Chandler is an intriguing candidate. So I kinda want him over there. I would prefer Chandler and his athleticism on the left side, and Bell just doesn't show that.

But that just puts Bell back at RT. Damm, I am just confusing myself now.

My brain has run that same circle dozens of times.

No easy answer, I guess :(

i can see bell getting the start at LT bc of experience (and to a degree seniority)...at least this year, but then chandler moving to left after he has some games under his belt and we get a RT next year who is a natural there. you know it would be nice to have someone on the OL who wasn't a converted something else. i mean besides kalil and turner.

But Bell played LT in college. So it should be more natural for him. I just don't know anymore. Part of me wants what is best for the team. Part of me wants Bell to actually show something at LT. Part of me just doesn't trust him. And a part of me wants corn with my Mediterranean Roast.

i think it's quite  likely that LT is more natural for him. i just don't think that means he'll be good....just better than he was at RT.

i just don't see him being as fast or agile as is needed for the job.

It doesn't matter to me whether someone converted from a position to play on the O-Line. What matters to me is that they play above average to elite at their position. If that's chandler than I think we can all welcome that.

That is my main concern as well. Right now, I just see him a just a little to big for LT. Maybe if he continues to lose some weight, and get down to 315ish I would feel better. I just think he is too big to be quick enough for LT. Which means RT, which is not the best solution either.

Chandler may be the best option at LT. If, he can get it down quick enough. But that puts Bell back at RT.

Maybe it is best for Bell to actually win the LT job for this year. If he can play there at a higher level than last year, it bodes well for us. I just don't want to have to make that decision.

Hellz, I have no clue. It just may be best for all concerned for Bell to win the LT job. Why does that scare me?
