even better..................fuggin gettlemagic

lol 2% of the fan base split on either Smittys side or DG side. the rest of us know it was probably lack of good communication between the two.

doesn't always have to be a bad guy.

I'm a little curious why it took him getting cut to start running everyday. If you're not giving 100% at 35 should you be surprised at a pink slip in the NFL?

As Cam says, giving less than 100% every day in the NFL just gets you beat.

This is the point I'm trying to make.

The season was over, who said that he hadn't been running like that in previous off seasons? Even if he didn't, so what? Honestly, you making a jump from a simple comment he made to questioning his overall effort while with this team while he was here is disgusting.

If he says he was ready to hang em up, and getting cut and signed to a new team got him fired up and ready for 3 more seasons, how can you possibly read into that in any other way?

You can't be giving 100% if an event makes you work harder or give more of yourself. By definition, it means you weren't giving 100% before.

I'm not going to go out of my way to read heavily into a comment about him jogging of all damn things, and turn that into questioning his overall desire and will to win, that goes against everything that we knew of him while spending 13 years of his career with this franchise.

How would an experience like getting cut from the team that you spent 13 seasons with not alter your perspective moving forward?

If you want to rag on the guy, just do it, but don't lie to yourself and twist words he made in some article. You're better than that,.

I have no doubt Smitty will bring his best effort against us. He will want to beat us just like Pep and Foxy did.

However, I highly doubt Smitty would have walked away leaving over 10 mill a season on the table over the next 2 years. The truth is we have no idea what sort of communication actually happened between Gettleman and Smitty but only how it played out in the media, it was never going to go down well with Panther fans. You don't just throw away millions in the twilight of your career. Lets be honest, only 1 team can win the SB. Lets remember he signed for 3 years 11 mill, the same as LaFell and a fraction of what he would have cost us. He'd have made about 30 mill here.

To me, it's just a sad state of affairs for Steve. Carolina has finally turned the proverbial corner as a franchise and will be vying for SuperBowls for the foreseeable future. It's very clear that he won't win one with Baltimore, so to me,I feel bad that Smitty will never get his ring.

And if he was really considering retiring, then why not sign a 1 yr deal and try to go to a contender to get his ring? I know money talks, but still.

Some of his quotes from that article should be scary for our DBs. He might go for 800 yds and 16 TDs against us. He has a serious axe to grind.

He shouldn't. This fanbase, this owner, all of it, has stood by Steve again and again. To be completely honest he should sit out the game in thanks for all the things we have instantly forgiven him for. He will always be one of my favorites, but this Ax to grind bullshit he wants to spout now is childish.
