Looks like a lot of fluff to me.  6 years/$60M guaranteed is only $10M per year guaranteed.  Not a terrible deal for a young QB with a lot of upside.  He'll never collect anywhere near $126M out of this contract.

I would expect seasoned fans to better understand NFL contracts by now.  Kaep ain't gonna get $20M per year out of this contract.  There's gonna be a lot of fluff money in this deal that his agent will use to market himself to other clients.

It's definitely A LOT, it's just nowhere near what the media is going to blow this up as.

 

Sooner or later, the QB bubble is going to pop.  The NFL may be a passing league, but at some point the cost of a franchise QB is going to become too much to bear and still be able to field a competitive complete team.

I don't know why you keep throwing out this idea that Kaepernick is going to only be making $10 million a year.

 

Joe Flacco is making $20 million a year, and he only got $52 million guaranteed. We're talking $61 million guaranteed here.

Guys, Cam isn't going to get anywhere near that. Kaep is on a stacked team but he still was part of 2 NFC title games and a SB. That gave him considerable negotation leverage.

Umm yes he will. If he doesn't he will walk and someone else will pay him that in a few years. No one rates Kapernick above Cam. Even in our playoff game last year they rated Cam as one of our few advantages. Even Harbaugh knows Cam is the more advanced quarterback and passer.

Three years in... the guy has close to 14k total yards and 92 TD.  On pace to something special..  He'll get around $22M-$23M a year.
