It's a stupid fuging contract because the Niners have all the leverage.

This is some genius level contract poo, I have no idea why Kaep ever agreed to it. Baalke fleeced the crap outta him.

49ers made out like bandits on this one, sorry to disappoint all y'all.

Wow, so the contract is $20 mil less for starters, cause he has to purchase an insurance policy? Lol

" Technically, the deal has $61 million guaranteed, even though $6 million of the guaranteed salary could evaporate (more on that later).  Either way, only $13.073 million is guaranteed at signing.  It comes in the form of a $12.328 million signing bonus, a base salary of $645,000, and a workout bonus of $100,000.

For 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and part of 2018, the base salaries are guaranteed only for injury.  On April 1 of each year, the guarantees convert from injury only to fully guaranteed.  That gives the 49ers the ability to decide, in any given year, to move on from Kaepernick.  And with the deadline for the conversion of the guarantee coming on April 1, the 49ers can squat on his rights until several weeks after the start of free agency, making it harder for him to get paid elsewhere.

The base salary for 2015 is $12.4 million, guaranteed for injury only until April 1, 2015.

For 2016, the base salary is $13.9 million, guaranteed for injury only until April 1, 2016.

For 2017, the base salary is $16.5 million, guaranteed for injury only until April 1, 2017.

For 2018, the base salary is $17 million, $5.2 million of which is guaranteed for injury only until April 1, 2018.

The non-guaranteed base salary for 2019 is $18.8 million, and the non-guaranteed base salary for 2020 is $21 million.

In each year from 2015 through 2020, however, there’s a catch.  A big one.  The total payout potentially de-escalates by $2 million per year, with up to $12 million potentially going away."

This is why you always have to be careful with media headlines, and always wanting to be the first to post a story (both here and the media). Lol

What do they always say: The Devil Is In The Details.

Actual contract details coming out today. 49ers aren't anywhere near as stupid as it appeared. There are a lot incentives built into the contract, the team can cut him April 1st each year, only like 12.5 million is in the signing bonus, the other "guaranteed money" can actually be voided. For example there's a large bonus if the 49ers make the Super Bowl or Colin is first or second team all pro.

Basically he only gets paid like an elite QB if he plays like one, and if he starts to suck, the 49ers can move on fairly easily. Pretty slick deal on the 49ers part all things considered.

Great job by the niners front office. The 60 million guaranteed is fluff. Spotrac broke it down even further.

They can easily cut bait any year with very small ramifications to their cap. Its like the anti Jonathan Stewart contract.

Maybe Kap agreed to it because he actually believes in his abilities and actually WANTS to earn his money. Or maybe Kaps a lowlife pos that cares about nobody but himself and wears hats backwards.

You still here? SMH

Obviously, Kaepernick saw how well career bust Alex Smith did with the Niners (with Harbarugh calling him 'the best QB in the NFL; I wouldn't replace him for anyone'), then promptly replacing him.

Obviously, with another career bust Blaine Gabbert present, they 49ers probably let Kaep know, "hey anyone can do well in our system; you should know that better than anyone; so the choice is yours" So Kaep signed that deal.

Why are you all standing up for the bird boy he sucks with the best talent in the NFL and can't achieve anything

Because I already taught all your buddies about why Kap is a driving force for the 9ers. Especially come playoff time. If you don't care to read and learn also thats fine. Just dont keep making yourself look ignorant with comments like that.

This is what I was thinking yesterday. Cause I'm sure they brought Gabbert there in case Kaepernick wasn't going to happy with their contract. They feel anyone can excel in Harbaugh's system (especially in the short term).

You didn't teach us anything. This year we will find out if Kap is worth his contract. I say no but we'll see.

A lot of haters on this board, put Kap's professional resume against Cam an tell me who you want. 3 NFC titles and a Superbowl apperance.  3 road playoff wins. If I remember correctly it was your other worldly Qb CHOAKING at Home! YOu talkk about all this talent Kap has, but wasnt it the Panthers with the best D-line in NFL, top 5 rushing team and according to you a future hall of fame Qb. You would give anything to be in our postion playing for the chance to go the Big Game, but your stuck here complaining about how youll getem next year. Cam has regressed each year when the team around him has gotten better.  His 42 int's an a number of them in important moments says enough about his development.  He will end up being famous for getting kicked out of Florida for stealing computers and cheating his way out of a University. Hes 2nd tier compared to the Red an Gold

They spread it out, as most would assume given the size of the contract.

It's still a big ass contract, and just take a little look at the spotrac details, and the cap hits after 2016.

I believe Cam will work with us, but don't expect him to accept this kind of deal. Not with how important he is to our team.
