Kaepernick gets mega-deal

You are the biggest fuging homer retard I've ever seen in my life. Krapernick IS going to get injured and be out atleast 16 games in the next 2-3 seasons, and other than his mobility, he as a passer is on par with The Golden Calf of Bristol. You could throw Joe fuging Webb onto the Niners the past 2 years and they'd make the playoffs and win a game or two. Harbaugh is an elite coach with a top 5 o line, top 10 run game, top 5 defense. They won despite Krapernick not because of him. Now when you lose guys like Aldon Smith because of this contract you better be content with being a yearly 6-10 to 9-7 team like the Cowboys.

And we're actually still in line to sign Aldon Smith too. May loose crabtree or iupati or both, but not aldon.

Taints are supposed to be fugged and they keep signing people

yep and they are doing the same thing to themselves that the Niners are doing with Kaep. strangely, this is eerily reminiscent of what Hurney did to the Panthers and J Jones has recently done to the Cowboys. the effects will all be the same. But the Panthers will be peaking while the Saints, Niners, and Boys are tanking.

The Age of the Panther is dawning!

Guys, Cam isn't going to get anywhere near that. Kaep is on a stacked team but he still was part of 2 NFC title games and a SB. That gave him considerable negotation leverage.

cam will be the highest paid qb in the league when he signs his contract. Bank on it.

Ok I'm going to explain all this.

Kaepernick did not get this money because he necessarily deserves it, he got it because it is his perceived worth to the team.

He has flaws in his game sure, but he has a lot more in his court than many of you are realizing.

1. He is young.  He has time to grow and learn.

2. He has a lot of athletic upside.  While he may be more injury prone than a guy like Cam he does a fairly good job protecting himself and certainly doesn't take hits like Vick and RG3 do.

3. His biggest flaw can only improve with experience.  It is a rare occurrence to have a quarterback come into the league and properly executing progressions.  Seriously when Cam arrived on the scene most people were more impressed with his ability to make reads (as a rookie) than his athleticism and gaudy numbers.

4. He's good enough to win.  Sure he has an incredibly talented team surrounding him, but isn't that exactly what the Panthers need to do for Newton?  All teams try to surround their quarterback with talent.  Usually when the Niners lose, the appropriate response is "he could have done more" rather than "he lost them the game".

5. Niners get the best deal.  Kaepernick has just set the market with this contract for this wave of young quarterbacks.  Cam, Luck and Wilson will all have even bigger contracts.  The last quarterback to sign a contract will have the biggest deal, not the best quarterback. Matt Ryan, Eli, Flacco, etc.  This is how the NFL is right now (and the past 15 years).

The contract also requires Kaepernick to purchase, with after-tax dollars, a disability policy that pays the 49ers $20 million if he suffers a career-ending injury.

the 49ers are nevertheless “thrilled” with the contract, which allows them to control Kaepernick’s rights for seven years and to move on after any of the next six seasons, if they ultimately decide that Kaepernick is more like the guy who struggled at times during the 2013 regular season and less like the guy who found the gas pedal in the playoffs.

If they keep him, the average payout will be low in comparison to other franchise quarterbacks, and the difference will become glaring as other franchise quarterbacks get new deals under a salary cap that is expected to continue to spike.

It's a stupid fuging contract because the Niners have all the leverage.

This is some genius level contract poo, I have no idea why Kaep ever agreed to it. Baalke fleeced the crap outta him.

49ers made out like bandits on this one, sorry to disappoint all y'all.

Listening to NFLN, The cap hit is 19 million if he is playing for them. If they move on from him it doesn't hurt them.
