time for this user to come out of retirement:

e: lol

Peppers is going to have a HUGE season this upcoming season and win the Defensive Player of the Year Award... he's been training like an animal is fully healthy for the first time in since 2010, after playing through a sprained MCL in his left knee in 2011 and plantar fasciitis in his feet in 2012.

yeah that's what happened right

While I don't agree with this, It's not as bad as a choice as people make it out to be. 81 sacks with us and now 118.5 for his career. He has a great shot at the HOF as well.

Me personally I gotta go with Smitty. And I know the next guy I am going to list is nowhere close to the top but I LOVED to watch DeShaun Foster run. He never even had a 1000 yard season but something about him was so exciting to watch.

Foster had a few runs that were really special and he was a huge part of 03 and 05. Just couldn't stay healthy. His injuries didn't linger like Stewart's too.

Peppers is one of the best players in franchise history. Why people are upset at him for doing what he wanted with his career is beyond me.

I've been waiting for a chance to bring this up, so here goes:

I often wonder if we'll ever know what was wrong with Peppers during his lost season with us. You'd think that with former teammates retiring and such, we'd hear something. I don't know if anything like it has ever happened in sports--an absolutely dominant player who became less than average for a year with no explanation.

No matter if you like him or not, the accolades speak volumes. One thing that the 'article' says is that Peppers was considered THE BEST AT HIS POSITION FOR YEARS." Steve could have said that for maybe his 2005 season. Maybe.Lots of Panther fans hated both of them and that's sad.I'll give Peppers the nod for that alone.

Skimmed the article, but they justified the choice by saying Peppers was the best defensive end in the league from 04-06? So 3 years of being the best at your position makes you the best player this franchise has ever had? But Smith being top 10 at his position for 8+ years means nothing? LOL

Anyone that doesn't think Peppers is genuinely in that conversation is just hating, pure and simple.

For my money, there are only TWO Panthers in that conversation, and we all know who they are.  Peppers could easily be the only one depending on how you look at it.
