2014 Summer Transfer Window: Rumors, Completed Deals, Pipedreams!

No idea.  It's kind of retarded.  They purchased most players with 2-5 year payment plan and gave them good salaries.  Because they failed to make CL or other European competition, they lost close to 70m pounds in TV deals. It was a gamble... and they lost.  In first 19 EPL games last season, Spurs scored something like 16 goals.  That team had no chemistry.

Huh? They did make the Europa Cup... besides, this isn't so much of a garage sale, as it is a getting the old regime out. Some of the names on the block are Townsend, Dawson, Sandro, Lennon, Assou-Ekotto, and Naughton. Unfortunately, the word is that Soldado, Paulinho, and Chiriches may also be available for sale, which does show a little of the "flop" theory, but I won't be surprised if these three stay for next year. Mostly though, it looks like Poch would like to rid himself of guys from the 'Arry era who should have been given up on a while ago. I'm not stressed about it.

Lamela has looked extremely good this preseason, and seems to be fitting into Poch's system well. If he pans out, 28 million won't seem so bad. Soldado is still looking to find his confidence. I'm thinking of hopping a flight to England so I can put up lost and found posters all over London.

Yedlin has a chance to make the starting 11, especially since Walker has been having issues with injuries lately. I'll just be happy if this pushes Naughton out the door. He's been horrible for a while now, and I'd like him gone.

Btw, I do reserve the right to laugh at all of you Liverpool fans next year when you have the same happen cause you miss having that ridiculous amount of goals from Count Suarez - and before you say it won't happen, you're following the same path already. We didn't think losing Bale's magic would affect us so much either....

Yeah, but you can't tell me that his presence on the pitch didn't free up others to make those goals, can you? They had to account for him at all times... now that he's gone, we'll see how well the machine runs :)

There is a decent chance Liverpool won't make top 4 this season. This will probably be one of the most competitive top 4 competitions in recent years. But I can assure you we will look nothing like last year's anemic Tottenham attack. We already have a striker who has been scoring at an alarming rate since his arrival, and his goals/game ratio actually goes up in Suarez's absence.

We also brought on a player who lead all English players in chances created last year, Raheem Sterling who is primed for a big year, Coutinho who is already one of the most creative players in Prem, and we built up our defense. We didn't do the Tottenham where we went and signed a bunch of guys to just plug in the first team. We have a really good first team core from last season with a position or two up for grabs for new guys right now.

Liverpool will be better than last year Spurs no doubt. Liverpool have way more talent than Spurs had at the manager spot

fixed that for you. I don't think the players are all that much more talented, so much as the manager is much better. As Chelsea fans can attest, AVB was hot garbage, and Levy replaced him with the wonderkid Timmay!

Yeah... it was rough being a fan last year. We still made EL (complete fluke, I'll admit), but the shellacking we received from the top 4 was embarrassing and painful to watch. But, what do you expect when you go from one guy who preaches passing for passing's sake to the next who lets the players go out there like headless chickens without any rhyme or reason. Timmay thought someone said tictacs, not tactics I guess.

I do think that you guys are underestimating the effect Suarez had for your team. Just like I was adamant that Bale's loss wouldn't be that big of a deal, which it was, it feels like you guys are downplaying how much his being gone might affect your team's effectiveness.

I do agree that this will be even more competitive this year than last year, which was pretty exciting in itself. Don't count my guys out just yet though, any more than I won't count any of the top 8 from last year. They've all made major improvements and it looks open to anyone again. Love this time of year, where everyone is hopeful!

I'm certainly not discounting the loss of Suarez. It will be a huge hit and I don't think we will challenge for the title this year. That said, we scored 101 goals last season. We won't need to come anywhere near that to make top 4. We also, in my opinion, made our back 4 much stronger.

I'll say it again though...we will not challenge for the title this year. Finishing 4th will be a success.

Agreed, except I think you could challenge for the title if your new signings work out for you. Honestly, I'm good with any one of the top teams taking it, except that munchkin Jose. My hatred for Fergie was a seamless transfer to that twat. Man U with Van Gaal is actually respectable... Mourinho though?

Yeah, he's the complete package of douche.

Hopefully you are right, but I don't see any way you are right now. If we were to bring in one more top class striker, then possibly. Chelsea were phenomenal at the back last year, and they just got far more potent up top. Arsenal have their weaknesses, but their midfield will dominate play. And City are City. If Aguero is healthy, they will be lethal.

Right now, that's a pretty big if. If we can produce goals from the midfield, we will be a successful team. But I still think we need at least 15 league goals from someone other than Sturridge, and right now I don't see where that is going to come from.
