Question for Baseball and Soccer fans of NC and SC.

What would you rather have first, a pro baseball team or Soccer team?

Neither for me, I loved playing soccer and watching the world cup and premier league is great. Bad soccer like the mls is painful to watch. If I thought we could get a Seattle type atmosphere that'd be another story. As for baseball, the knights are fine with me.

A lot of the attraction is a good ballpark or soccer stadium. Most new MLS stadiums are awful: bleachers, no roof, miles from downtown/uptown (what's the difference?) and don't have adequate facilities. A 20-30k stadium could be fantastic, look at Brighton & Hove Albion, Bolton Wanderers, Coventry City etc.

A roof will invite more fans to come (did you see the Toronto game the other day?!) and will improve the atmosphere as it keeps the atmosphere in and project it.

Baseball but soccer close. I agree on how you make the soccer stadium. Translucent roof/awning.

I am a much bigger soccer fan than I am a baseball fan, but I still say a professional baseball team. With a professional baseball team, you get the best players in the best league in the world. With an MLS team you get....well, nothing great.

I prefer soccer and it's not even close. With that said I don't really care if we have a struggling team in our city. I enjoy watching greatness and the MLS doesn't have it.

I really wish we could get a USMNT game into Charlotte but the USSF tries to place games in cities were they think fans loyal to the US will be the majority. In a society ultra sensitive to racial/ethnic discrimination the USSF has done this for years with no opposition.

Baseball. I find soccer to be woefully boring and hate even the thought of watching it.

Golf is more exciting.

Thats actually a tough question. So many people already have their favorite MLB team so I'm not sure how baseball would do in Charlotte. I would love to have a team here but it would probably always be my second team. As for soccer, too many people down here do not appreciate the sport. Maybe having a team would change that.

We don't have the population to support MLB for 80 games a year. If we did I would say baseball.

 

Soccer would be more sustainable with a small uptown stadium and 30 games or so per year.

I would prefer a baseball team over soccer mainly because I don't give a rats ass about MLS. Even if we did get a baseball team I would still be a Braves fan.
