Your company says don't do it.

 

If you do it and get caught, you are a moron with yourself to blame.

 

In this case, he may simply be an addict. The league should provide a addiction recovery program for him during his hiatus.

I didn't say that he shouldn't be punished at all.

 

We both seem to agree that the rules and punishments need some adjustments. I'm only stating my opinion on the matter like you are.

 

You are making very valid points about the level of punishment.

 

However under the current CBA, the punishment that he has been given is exactly the punishment that is described for the offense.  This is also why Washington is not bitching about it nor trying to appeal it.

Looked up Washington's salary for this season on Sportrac.  Here's what they have listed for him...

 

Base Salary: $2,900,000

Signing Bonus: $500,000

Option Bonus: $2,500,000

Workout Bonus: $100,000

 

Now, as I understand NFL salaries, his signing bonus would likely already have been paid.  The rest of it - i.e. the amount he stands to lose thanks to his year long suspension - totals up to 5.5 million dollars.

 

Anybody here willing to pay that much for a smoke?

 i believe all drugs should to legal. people are going to do what they want unless you threaten to cut off their head. 

 

its simple im a nfl player and if the NFL bans creatine. as much as i love steak, i like million of dollars more. regardless of how dumb it is for a certain drug to illegal, if its a rule against and i lose millions of dollars to i use. id have the willpower/smarts to stay away. after my career is over smoke/inject/swallow whatever.

If it's for weed then that is pathetic. The NFL needs more parity with these suspensions.

Punch your girlfriend/wife to be unconscious, and drag her out of an elevator. No suspension. Yell bomb in an airport? No suspension.

Smoke some weed? Welp we're just going to have to suspend you the entire season to teach you a lesson.

Different teams, different coaches, different standards.

Look at the two clowns in comparison, they both play for narcissistic harbaugh psychos.

Washington plays for Arians, someone I could see with a strong moral compass, not about taking that poo on his team, much like Ron Rivera.
