Daryl Washington suspended for 2014

I understand you points.  However, the CBA (that all players agreed to and signed) is very clear on the penalties for drug and substance abuse.

They know the consequences for continued infractions....yet, continue to to do it.

I have no issue with thinking the rules shoudl be revamped.  But, getting all bent out of shape because someone got caught and was punished according to the agreement is ridiculous.

Actually getting arrested and charged with a crime should carry more punishment from the league than simply smoking marijuana. Remember all those players arrested in the offseason during the lockout in 2011? None of them were suspended for the entire season.

I think 3-4 games at the most should be a sufficient punishment for this, and should definitely send the message.

If it's for weed then that is pathetic. The NFL needs more parity with these suspensions.

Punch your girlfriend/wife to be unconscious, and drag her out of an elevator. No suspension. Yell bomb in an airport? No suspension.

Smoke some weed? Welp we're just going to have to suspend you the entire season to teach you a lesson.

I was literally about to post this. The punishment doesn't fit the crime.

A 3 to 4 game suspension generally is the punishment, the first time.

You get suspended once and you're still dumb enough to keep doing it, i can't say I have a lot of sympathy for you.

Take Josh Gordon, for example.  He was in Stage 3 of the League's program, which meant he was getting tested 10 times a month.

You know you're getting tested 10 times a month and you still light up, you're a moron.

Don't get me wrong...I think that the punishment for Rice, Smith, etc should be much more severe than it is.

However, the punishment for multiple violations of the substance abuse policy is clearly documented in the CBA....to which all parties agreed to.  Argue that the CBA should be changed is a valid point.  Saying that he should not have been punished according to the CBA is ridiculous.

Per NFL network.....Cardinals taking a kick to the groin with this one....good player.Hope that this helps send a message that you can't F around with crap and get away with it. Didnt mention what he got nailed on ...if its a drug or a banned substance. Are you listening Frank.....better be smart if you want to stick anywhere...Kony may be breathing down your neck

Aldon Smith better get 1 yr minimum then.

Its about being consistent on punishment, just like they demand consistency when players play.

The thing about situations like those with Ray Rice (and Greg Hardy) is that the League tends to wait until legal issues in a case of that sort are resolved before taking action, which means it takes time for those things to play out.  There are exceptions, but that's the general rule.

A drug test result, on the other hand, comes pretty quickly and other than an appeal, that's that.

I wonder what might have happened if he had just left the weed alone?

Nevermind, I forgot... people who smoke weed are just children who are not responsible for their own violations of clearly understood rules and standards.

I didn't say that he shouldn't be punished at all.

We both seem to agree that the rules and punishments need some adjustments. I'm only stating my opinion on the matter like you are.

Yeah nobody here has said that, but thanks anyways.
