Yep. He doesn't want his family running it after he dies for whatever reason.

Probably doesn't want to risk his children fighting over the team. Running a business together as a family is generally a bad idea and can ruin relationships. Look at what's happening with the Buss family in Los Angeles. By selling the team he dies knowing his family is financially secure and will not have a falling out over power of the business.

I also think Mr. Richardson is gonna have it set up where the ownership pretty much just slides over to one of the current share holders. I can't see him allowing it to just be an open auction where anyone can come in and buy the team. He worked hard to get a team in this region and he's a smart man, he's got something planned he's not telling.

That would be my guess.
