Maya Angelou has died

Died in Winston Salem at age 86.  She was a remarkable woman who led at times a tragic and facinating life.

She was an important voice, an amazing talent.....and local.

indeed sad news. 

When I worked at Waldenbooks in Raleigh, I would go through one of her collections during lunches. Kept adding her to my reading list, but never got around to actually buying the it.

She was a remarkable woman. Although I'm an avid reader, I could never connect with her written words, but I was locked into her when I listened to her speak. She could speak the same thing I just read and it would be a completely different experience for me.
