Wharton...Chandler will do great things

I like chandler a lot if he is ready to start that's even better but I am really disappointed in the lack of fuging depth.

That lack of depth is likely to change quickly once cuts begin around the NFL.

I'm sure we've talked numbers with him at the very least, if not an actual offer.

Seems pretty clear that Wharton is trying to get the best offer he feels possible, and I can't blame him for that.

Yeah based on how Gettleman seems to operate that would be my guess as well.

i think the offer just has to be big enough for him to delay retirement... as in an offer too good to refuse, and even then i don't think there's any real rush for him to sign.

his roster spot is there if he wants it regardless if he signs now or in august.

I do think he keeps saying he isn't retired for that very reason you have suggested in this thread. Methodical way of not being forgotten.

Vet TBD-Silatolu-Kalil-Turner-Chandler

I think Chandler could be the long-term answer at LT. He has all the physical tools. But I sans give him a year at RT to get his feet wet playing tackle before he is thrown into the fire of protecting Cam's blindside.

I think that would be ideal, but most likely will be

Chandler-Amini-Kalil-Turner-Williams/Bell

But I'm hoping Williams beats out bell, I think he's a better RT from what I've seen

Dave is stockpiling a nice little chunk of cap space he's wiggled out the last few weeks (ie Godfrey). There are quality players cut every year after June 1st, and again after training camp. There will be several LTs cut and I would almost bet money Dave if gonna go all in on the very best one available.

I think that was his plan all off season, to be honest.

People rag on Bell but I like him on the roster. It isn't his fault he was forced to start. He is an extremely hard worker who knows our system very well. He isn't as god awful as people say, he's very serviceable. Once we bring in starter quality tackles Bell is gonna be a great back up. He's young, cheap, experienced, and plays hard.

Weirdly enough I do too.

I think the guy has all the skills to play lt. It's just the mental aspects since he's new to it. It sucks he couldn't have more time but it's telling that the chose to put him in at starting guard over others when he's just a freshly converted from dt.

The dude is athletic as all get out and has been putting on good weight in the offseason for this role

IMO putting him at guard was a good learning transition for him to the OL. It allowed him to get stronger, facing bull rush vs DT and learning how to run block. He has the athletic ability to play LT especially in pass protection, moving away from DTs who are stronger and bigger to smaller DEs will allow him to dominate them.
