Wharton...Chandler will do great things

Considering the state of our OL, I find it hard to believe we haven't at least attempted to sign him yet.

I agree wholeheartedly that we should have reached out to him. I just don't think we have. Last year Gettleman said he wanted to see what we have on the roster. He doesn't seem to panic. I assume because he has been around since Moses parted the Red sea. I don't think we have to worry about Wharton signing with anyone else. He has a luxury of being a veteran that has made millions to retire. We have the luxury of being the only team he has legitimately played for. He got hurt and cut in Cincinnati so there is no relationship. If Gettleman needs an emergency tackle I believe we should be able to sign him.

I'm sure we've talked numbers with him at the very least, if not an actual offer.

Seems pretty clear that Wharton is trying to get the best offer he feels possible, and I can't blame him for that.

I have a difficult time believing that.

You may want to believe it cause you can't wrap your mind around us not signing anyone.

If the Panthers wanted Wharton to be on the roster right now, he would be.

Wharton will either accept a contract offered to him by Gettleman, or he will not be a Panther.

As of right now, Wharton is not on the roster for a reason.

Neither of us have inside knowledge or can say for sure either way. So thanks for the input.

Gettleman knows what Wharton brings. Wharton knows what he has to do to get ready for the season.

My guess is they already have a handshake agreement to bring him back, but will wait until close to season start to bring him in officially. That gives the coaches time to evaluate the youngsters and Wharton stays fresh for the season.

Win-win for all concerned.
