Drafted, signed, waived (all in about two weeks)

and finding out you have a heart condition that at the least might keep you out of the game you worked so hard to be a part of and could be something that is a major issue for the rest of his life?

wow what a tornado

Was probably super excited to be picked by the world champs too.

Like a lot of guys, might have had dreams of buying his mom a house and such.

Sad to hear :(

I'm surprised things like this don't happen more often. I honestly wonder how teams' can have accurate physicals on a thousand or so eligible draft prospects.

"Sorry guys, we had to cut our 7th round pick. Turns out he didn't have legs or a working endocrine system . . . A cactus, he was a cactus."

From what I hear, from a former team doctor, all the team doctors and their assistants share their notes on all the draft prospects to try to avoid this

Much respect to Seattle

There's a silver lining. The Seahawks found out about Scott's condition before signing him but the team signed him to his contract anyway, then waived him. That means Scott receives his signing bonus and first-year salary totaling about $555,000, according to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times.
