Benwikere was a "victim" of the WR numbers game (Person's latest)

I'm going to call bullshit on what Gettleman said about being an interceptor translating. Apparently the panthers were not high on Desir, and he had like 30 career picks.

What are his measurables? Wasnt he really short? That may explain why Gman chose bene over him

Cleveland took Desir in the 4th round before we took Tre Boston. Desir was likely the target for round 4 but was gone. I would think that this is why Benwikere was in the discussion for round 4 because the corner they targeted was gone and the next guy on the list likely wouldn't last until the end of the 5th. The guys we took in rounds 1-3 were much higher value than Desir, so it's not as if you can determine "we were not high on Desir." We stuck to the board.

** Edit ** I didn't realize they took him only one pick before us. They probably thought the Browns wouldn't take him because they took Gilbert in round 1. That blows.

My only question with Desir would be about his understanding of our zone in comparison to the scheme they ran at Linwood. Josh Norman was a beast at Coastal Carolina but he played on an island and never had to really understand a defensive scheme. After we drafted him I think we figured out he might be to dumb to pick up our scheme.

Wasn't Desir picked like a spot ahead of us? They may have taken him had he been there.

Desir is a zone press corner. He would've at least been familiar with the techniques our scheme uses. He was a fit. Not sure if the coaching staff was high on him or not (no one does really) but he had a lot of the attributes we seem to be interested in.
