Something I can't wrap my head around

This team has Bismack Biyombo and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. Monsters on the defensive side of the ball, piss poor on the offensive side of the ball. The lack of offense really hurt us in close games this season. So please tell me how you can argue that drafting Aaron Gordon wouldn't be one of the worst mistakes in franchise history? Even if Aaron Gordon reached his maximum offensive potential he still wouldn't be the scorer this team needs. This is the NBA, a #1 defense isn't the same threat a #1 offense would be.

Have you seen the guy play? His dribbling and passing skills are very similar to Biyombo, *terrible* Dunking is the only way he can score points. His jump shot is no existent and he surly cannot create his own shot. This is a checklist of exactly what the Hornets don't need.

Is Clifford building a defensive first team or something else? That's a question I think will be answered this off season.

Luckily the two defensive guys on the team are also two of the hardest workers on the team.

I still have hope that MKG can develop a jumper that's consistent.

Gordon's game is identical to Blake! You'd know if you kept up with him. Plus, he's a much better all around player than Blake. Blake is unstoppable right now after adding a consistent jumper.

Gordon's offensive game will come. When he develop a jump shot, he's going to be unstoppable. It's not like you're changing his form like MKG. It's not like you're working with a guy who's only been introduced to basketball not long ago in Biz.

Charlotte fans are exaggerating and overreacting on Gordon's offense.

He's so dynamic and athletic that he could be a 12ppg guy this upcoming season playing along Al where all the focus will be on Al.

That is literally how everyone defended the Biyombo and MKG pick.

Not Biyombo. Every knew he was raw. Everyone was hoping he turn into an Ibaka type of player.

I was dead wrong on MKG tho. Didn't know his form was that damn terrible. His offense is so limited in the NBA, not like in college. He can't drive into the lane until he develop a jumper.

Gordon is so athletic that he'll get to the rim off lobs. The question is can Kemba make those passes?

Aaron Gordon is young, I believe he can get a consistent jumper like Blake has if he works on it enough. With the picks we have in the upcoming draft we have to get some legitimate players who can be a threat in the NBA. I don't mind Aaron Gordon at all if he is there when we pick.

I wouldn't hate Gordon. That said he is nowhere near my first choice for a number of reasons. In my ideal scenario, Marcus Smart somehow falls. I've been a big fan of his game for a long time and he could give his some offensive flash.

If Gordon is there at 9 I think teams would be willing to trade up. At that point I would prefer Stauskis over Gordon anyway, so if we could add picks and land some awesome perimeter scoring, that's a huge win in my book.

I do feel Gordon has some upside, I just don't think his game will be what we need for a long time. Not to mention Zeller has only had one year. I believe someone on this board recently pointed out the absolute identical stats zeller had to Dirk his first year. I don't think he's Dirk. I'm not even sure he pans out. But it's too early to know. I don't want to add a second PF project with our first pick in back to back drafts.

Lets get a sharp shooter SG and go after ZBo while Zeller develops his game.

I agree with this, when they drafted MKG AND Biyombo they said they were committed to letting those goes develop offensively develop down the road. At some point you have to say you are okay with what you have in that department and its time to switch it up and get someone who can light up the score board. At the end of the day when you are constantly drafting guys in the LOTTERY who are only averaging 5-7 pts for the career you are doing something wrong.

MKG's 22pt explosion in game 3 vs Miami was awesome to see and gave me a lot more hope than i ever had.

Hopefully a full offseason with Price and the coaching staff will help

Hopefully he will build on that for sure or at least get into double figures more often during the season.

    • he has barely suited up for 50% of our games.  It matters pending how much of our cap and resources go that way.  If he cost in the ballpark of a Surtain? No thank you.  Let someone else  And as far we know what happens when we let talent walk away or trade them…..that’s a mixed bag.   should we of paid Norman, Bradberry at CB? They probably had earned the right to be called better than Horn at that moment of the decision.  Do we regret that? Do we regret Star walking? Can take it back to Spoon.  Flip side is probably Peppers.
    • We need to get better in the redzone. And yes that is an issue that involves all the moving parts. Oline receivers QB and playcalling. But Bryce himself has to lead the charge on that or surely we could face another blowout in one of these upcoming games. Every team no matter how good they are is going to face an opponent that imposes their will on them and requires the same in response. Those are the games where we have got to capitalize on drives. Honestly I get the sense that the Chiefs on some level overlooked us.  So while I am pleased we were as competitive as we were it certainly remains to be seen if this was the beginning for something new or just an anomaly. I think that's a perfectly fair take at this juncture.
    • He is a diva, even with Baltimore winning, he will cry and pout and ask to be traded. He cares about his numbers and stats for his next contract. Ironically, his best chance to showcase his ability was with us, now he is just an afterthought.
