The #1 Problem with CHARLOTTE sports fans

Recommended Posts

Honestly, if I defriended everybody who wasn't as into football as me, I'd be a pretty lonely guy B)

I feel your pain... Sadly I'm always surrounded by retarded Cowboys and Patriot fans... Damn you military....... So a little off topic but I know you remember this. Who else on here remembers the old official website forum on panthers.com???? Who else is suprised to see they finally brought it back!?

I know I am for one.

Charlotte isn't the problem and Charlotte is the problem, too.

Such a huge town with such a young energetic group and most of that youth made up by transplants - they just don't care about the Panthers.  Go to a Panthers/Steelers game, Jets, Giants, Patriots, etc most Northern towns and you'll see a ridiculous amount of away team jerseys.  Most stadiums aren't like that.  The older generation of Charlotte enjoys the Tarheels/Blue Deviels/Other, NASCAR, etc.

It is also a good thing, because those young, hip people add a lot to the appeal of Charlotte which make it such a great place.

Not true at all

I grew up in Charlotte and it's the young generation of fans that are going to push the fanbase to the next level.

Before Charlotte had the Panthers, I was a Buffalo fan because of where I was born and family ties. And now everyone in my family is a diehard Panther fan, even my Mom who is from Niagara Falls. Now, I'm not saying our fanbase is like the Bills' in Buffalo, because I've always believed they have the best fans in the game. But the problem is the traditional / conservative older generation of fans, not the young fans. It's their kids that are going nuts about this team and grew up with only the Panthers and not the Redskins or Falcons or Bills or whoever.

I've never seen a crowd at a Panther regular season game like the Saints game this past season. I've been to at least 40 home games, and it was so obvious that even my Mom pointed out how the majority of the fans in the upper deck were young fans and we were LOUD and it was pouring rain. Most electric atmosphere I've been in at a Panthers game. I just think, yes the Panthers game atmosphere has been stale for a lot of those years, but as the young generation of fans, like me, grow up and can afford to go to games, the atmosphere at game will only continue to get rowdier and rowdier.

There are a multitude of problems, but:

The typical Charlotte sports fan TAKES FOR GRANTED what we have.

6'5" 250 lb. QB? They act like they can just trash him and that he can't leave here, literally, in 365 days.

I had to come share that though because I just got in an argument with a co-worker and it just fuging pisses me off how ungrateful people are to have the superstar that we have.

So what if he does a fuging pose? It's entertainment. They're trying to sell tickets and create a brand..we may be a bunch of old farts (well I'm getting there) but the kids love it.

In closing, I challange all of us huddlers to stick it to any Panthers fan that says a foul word about our QB, not just arguing his talent, but reminding them of the STAR that we have and the PLATFORM that it gives the city.

Because this talent:

Doesn't come around every day. I think the biggest issue is most Charlotte area sports fans assume that it does.

No wonder my orders take so long. Stop chatting it up and supersize Already

Not everyone is a die hard fan, think about it.....the true die hard fans make up 10% of the fan base.

Hell even a lot of posters here aren't die hard fans, they can barely name half of the roster from last season.  The majority of fans are just the common man who looks for an escape from his day to day life and drinks a beer and watches the games on sunday.
