  1. 1. Who do you want Cha to draft at 9 and why?

It's how the Spurs have stayed good for as long as they have. Amassing over seas talent and bringing them over slowly.

The Spurs were a championship team before they start doing that and they also didn't use that strategy with top 10 picks.

He's only 6-7 with shoes on, doesn't have the size or rebounding ability to go inside in the NBA or the speed and quickness to guard 3's out on the perimeter. He literally has no position in the NBA and doesn't has size or athleticism to his advantage.

If you watch his film, he actually is a very solid defender. If your drafting for athleticism (MKG), most times it is going to take time for them to even begin to make an impact. Aaron Gordon is that guy this year. It will take him at least 2 seasons to get his game going like we would need him to because his raw. Athletic? Yes, but very raw. Doug is not a prototypical player, but he knows how to play basketball. I mean 5th all time on the NCAA scoring list? Really? I am one of the few that would enjoy seeing this guy on our team.

I just don't understand this.

This has happened before. People have fallen in love with the mid major, high scoring, smart basketball player. Who isn't going to be better then what he is now and has very low upside.

McDermott is a worst prospect then Morrison was. He is a stretch 4 at 6'7 in shoes and Socks. He can'tplay SG or SF and is too small to be a PF. At best he is a tweener with no handles and avg. Athleticism.

Are you comparing Steph situation toMcDermott?t

Makes about as much sense as comparing him to Morrison.

When you said " People have fallen in love with the mid major, high scoring, smart basketball player. Who isn't going to be better then what he is now and has very low upside"

That was to a tee what many people were saying about Steph coming out.  I just got confused I guess.

This also sounds similar to James Harden. I'm not saying McDermott is going to be a superstar, but his film/stats speak for themselves.

Picked Stauskas because I love the shooting and just the offense. I feel like he will be our Klay Thompson but I actually think Stauskas has more playmaking ability. I think he will fit in perfectly to our team and we will not miss a beat. Gordon is intriguing but I don't see him as a good fit for the offense that we run. He has all the potential in the world but I wouldn't risk this pick on Gordon.

I agree with this. Stauskas or Gary Harris I would be happy with plugging right into our lineup.

Not really Steph had a set position where he had advantages over other players already in the league.

He had PG skill sets and was going to be 1 of the taller guards in the league.  And the major difference is Curry could create his own shot.

You can't sit here and say McDermott has any advantage over any SG, SF, and PF.

Question for those who DO NOT want Aaron Gordon

If we got a shooter or scorer at 24 like Hairston or Warren, and got a guy like Hayward in Free Agency, would you become content with Gordon's current lack of offensive skills? Or no?

I think I might be okay with that situation. I like Warren more than Hairston, and pairing him with Gordon might be ok. Gordon is offensively limited right now, but his shot just doesn't look that bad to me. I think he just doesn't get enough rotation on the ball. As I watched him play, I kept wondering how the ball wasn't going in. His stroke actually looks pretty ok. Not great, but not awful. I think if we just get him focusing on putting rotation on the ball, his shot will be just fine. I'm still more in the don't want Gordon camp, but I wouldn't be really opposed to taking him.

    • Exactly. Exposes the whole defense. Dude thinks anyone can be Aaron Donald or something
    • While we're talking a fresh prospect that I happen to be a fan of, might as well get on a soapbox: Point 1 - He is not undersized by any means, his length is far above the mean His wingspan is in like the 85th percentile. An interesting note - his wingspan is 5 inches over Khalil Mack, 2 inches over Will Anderson's.  Only 1/2 inch away from the no-production yet size hyped 6'5 267 Shemar Stewart's. For comp - Ez's is around 83", arm length 34".  For NFL comp, the mean for wingspan is 80" and arms 33.5" at for starting EDGE defenders.  So it's not just my isolated comparisons. Point 2 - He isn't just a flashy "pass rush specialist" His film (and testing) shows elite quickness, hand work, and ability to play with the heads of OTs that normal prospects don't grasp. (see my prior post) Testing wise, one of the fastest 3-cones and short shuttles for an edge in years.  Fastest this year for both -- and those two drills are the ones teams look at for pass rushers, usually very indicative of success.  His quickness is off the charts. He's a guy that played well, showed well to those casually watching and those film-studying.  Then he goes out and tests well to back it up.  Apparently interviews super well.  So, I think it's all about his capacity/potential as a run defender.  That's really what it comes down to.  Can he be a 3-down guy or is he a specialist?  I see a 3-downer, his run defense is better than given credit for. A breakdown Ez vs. the NFL mean Arm Length: 34" vs. 33.5" (over) Wingspan: 83" vs. 80" (over) 3-Cone: 6.94 sec vs. 7.23 (WELL over, 95 percentile) Short Shuttle: 4.19 vs. 4.424 (over) Height: 6'2 1/2 vs. 6'3 (slight under) People look at the height a smidge under 6'3 and take that without considering the rest.   I think with Ez, it all comes down to what teams think his run defense upside is.  All it takes is one team - if they think he can become more that a passing down guy, then he could go high.  But if guys like Nik Bonitto and Haason Reddick can turn into these all-arounders, I don't see why this kid can't either who has higher pedigree and better measurables. Now, I prefer Graham, Walker inside, Will Johnson, Barron, and some others over him, but once we're in this tier outside of the top guys, I find the argument way more compelling for Ez over a Mykel Williams or Shemar Stewart.
    • Well if we’re bringing this guy with character issues in for a visit why not consider Mike Green at 8!?
