Build Your 2014 Charlotte Hornets

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=om7xjll

Sign Lance Stephenson, Trevor Ariza, Anthony Morrow, Grievis Vazquez, and Pargo

Kemba, Vazquez, Pargo

Stephenson, Neal, Morrow

Ariza, MKG, Taylor

Love, McRoberts, Zeller

Gasol, Biyombo

Team has size, quickness, shooting, rebounding, defense, depth, flexibility, and plenty of ball movement

Minny could get a much better trade than a one year (of a player option) of Zach Randolph' expensive ass contract and Cody Zeller. This trade may work on the trade machine, but wouldn't fly in real life. Ever. Minny is getting shafted, Memphis too, and the Hornets make out like bandits.

As for the trade itself, it puts the Hornets over the cap. Hell, it puts all teams involved over the cap and tax line. THEN, they're going to find money (Maybe 20 million) to sign Lance, Ariza, Vazquez and others? No. Just, no.

I know it was totally unrealistic, but it is a fantasy thread. You make good points, and Hornets also are not trading big Al either. Love probably wants no part of being in Charlotte, therefore want sign a contract either.

My trade targets that could be realistic would include this list.

Aaron Afflalo

Gordon Heyward (sign and trade)

Paul Millsap (with extension)

Taj Gibson

#8 pick from Sacramento

I will play!

Draft

1. Trade!!! #9 + Gary Neal for #12 and Affalo.

2. With the #12 pick in the 2014 NBA draft, the Charlotte Hornets select Zach Levine PG/SG UCLA. With the edition of Affalo we can swing for the fences with this pick. If Levine doesn't develop we still have Affalo and vice versa.

3. With the #24 pick in the draft, the Charlotte Hornets select Kyle Anderson, SF/PF UCLA. 2 UCLA players?!?! Kyle Anderson takes the place of McBob and fills the roll of a PF passer.

4. With the #45 pick the Hornets select, Nikola Jokic C, from Serbia and keeps him oversees to develop over there and not count against players here.

Free Agency

1. PG Shaun Livingston

2. SF Gordon Haywood

3. PF Mike Scott

PG: Walker, Livingston
SG: Affalo, Henderson,
SF: Haywood, Kidd-Gilchrist, Taylor
PF:Zeller, Scott, Anderson
C: Jefferson, Biyombo, Haywood

Oversees: Jokic

What do you think?

(1) Sign Carmelo Anthony

(2) Trade for Russell Westbrook

OKC may consider a trade. They have shown that they can't win a Championship with KD and Westbrook. They have shown that they can win plenty of games without Westbrook. They may look for more pieces to surround KD. Cho also helped draft Westbrook.

Charlotte: Russell Westbrook, Hasheem Thabeet

OKC: No.9, No.24, Kemba Walker, MKG, Cody Zeller

(45) Jordan Clarkson, PG/SG, Mizzou

2014-2015 CHARLOTTE HORNETS

PG: Russell Westbrook / Jannero Pargo / Jordan Clarkson

SG: Gerald Henderson / Gary Neal

SF: Carmelo Anthony / Jeff Taylor

PF: Bismack Biyombo

C: Al Jefferson / Hasheem Thabeet

Why would Westbrook succeed with Melo when he didn't with Durant?

If we got westbrook that would be godly. He would win the scoring title no doubt

EDIT: only if we didn't get Melo too

Release: Jeff Taylor

1. THE NBA DRAFT:

Pick 9: Julius Randle PF Kentucky

Pick 24. PJ Hairston SF North Carolina/Texas Legends

Pick 45: Thanasis Antetokounmpo F Greece

2. TRADE:

    Gerald Henderson

    Michael Kidd Gilchrist

]

FOR:

Giannis Antetokounmpo - Prospect with potential out of this world

    John Henson - Shot Blocker

    Larry Sanders - Shot Blocker

Nate Wolters - Cheap Backup PG

3. FREE AGENCY:

Sign: Nick "Swaggy P" Young - Pure Scorer off the bench will bring a lot of energy and excitement into TWC

Thabo Sefolosha - Defensive stopper on the wing to replace MKG and also a much better shooter than MKG

2014 Charlotte Hornets Roster:

PG: Kemba Walker, Nate Wolters

SG: Thabo Sefolosha, Nick Young, Gary Neal

SF: Giannis Antetokounmpo, PJ Hairston, Thanasis AntetoKounmpo

PF: Julius Randle, Cody Zeller, John Henson

C: Al Jefferson, Larry Sanders, Bismack Biyombo

This team will be an immediate playoff contender in the east with potential to be a title contender in years to come. With the acquisitions of their young talent with the AntetoKounmpo Brothers and PJ Hairston they should have the brightest Future at the 3 spot in the NBA. #9 Pick Julius Randle will put up Rookie of The Year type numbers with the hornets and eat offensive glass up whenever shooters thabo sefolosha, nick young, and gary neal may miss. Kemba Walker should put up all star numbers with this supporting cast to dish assists to. The best part of this team is there is elite perimeter defenders (Thabo Sefolosha, Kemba Walker, Giannis [Potentially]) and on the inside is a band of monstrous shot blockers in John Henson, Larry Sanders, and Bismack Biyombo. This team would easily lead the league in shot blocking.

Release: Jeff Taylor (Why? He's cheap and serviceable)

1. THE NBA DRAFT:

Pick 9: Julius Randle PF Kentucky (Won't be at 9)

Pick 24. PJ Hairston SF North Carolina/Texas Legends (Hopefully there)

Pick 45: Thanasis Antetokounmpo F Greece (Cool with this)

2. TRADE: (This is laughably bad. The Bucks would NEVER do this. They're probably not giving up Giannis alone for this IMO because of his potential...and they're going to throw in Henson and Sanders, two high potential guys in their frontcourt? I mean I know Sanders has off the court drama and a big contract, but whaaaat?)

    Gerald Henderson

    Michael Kidd Gilchrist

]

FOR:

Giannis Antetokounmpo - Prospect with potential out of this world

    John Henson - Shot Blocker

    Larry Sanders - Shot Blocker

Nate Wolters - Cheap Backup PG

3. FREE AGENCY: (I'd like Young, but he's said he wants to stay with the Lakers. They don't have much choice but to keep him if the price is reasonable. If it isn't reasonable, he's probably not a fit here.)

Sign: Nick "Swaggy P" Young - Pure Scorer off the bench will bring a lot of energy and excitement into TWC

Thabo Sefolosha - Defensive stopper on the wing to replace MKG and also a much better shooter than MKG

Young would be a great fit. Besides Love, he might be the best stretch four in the league.
