New Orleans loses Super Bowl Bid

Recommended Posts

Glad to see another new team getting one.  If you are going to host a neutral site game at a stadium that is home to one of your franchises then every franchise should get the chance to host one once every thirty-two years.

I've talked to a guy that is very in-tune with the bidding and has the inside info on this type of stuff and he said it's pretty foregone conclusion that New Orleans will not be hosting another Super Bowl for quite some time.

That's because it's very likely the owners are going to allow the Superbowl to go on the road and try to involve every stadium  in the league. This would eliminate the entire "bidding" process and simply create a schedule going forward based upon the latest and greatest stadium upgrades or constructions.

There is a big hotel construction boom about to start in Charlotte, so maybe that'll help our chances 4-5 years from now.

There are several 10-25 floor hotel projects getting underway this year and next.

lol... little late. Tagliabue promised Jerry Richardson a Superbowl back in 1993 when the Carolina Panther campaign was in full swing.

I think the message is clear, build a big revenue generating building on tax payers money and you will get a Super Bowl. It's a nice bone for the tax paying citizens of Minnesota.

Boned is what the MN taxpayers got alright, the price tag for their palace is insane and arguably the worst deal for a community ever, Superbowl be d@mned.

Yeah they got strong armed by the NFL with LA threats.

With that said, the Metrodome was a great deal for the city. They paid 68 million for it in 1982 which is about 200 million with inflation. They house a football team for 32 years and a baseball team for 27 years. Hosted a Super Bowl and World Series. The Timberwolves played there for a year. NCAA tourney games. The list goes on.

It doesn't change the fact they got bilked on this new stadium but pro sports have been good to Minneapolis.
