Panthers placed NT Ma'ake Kemoeatu (Achilles' surgery) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Kemo had hoped to come back in late December, but Carolina was never going to hold a roster spot that long. Keep in mind how weak the Panthers' run defense will likely be without their massive interior clogger. Kemoeatu is signed for next season, but will be 31, coming off a career-threatening injury, and is due a $9.3M option bonus in March 2010. He may be a cap casualty.

That would be a shame. I guess thats why these guys hold out for bigger contracts and everything, even though as fans we say why holdout for $30 Million when you are already making $20MM? Just like that, running in camp, your ish could be over @ 31. Sad.

Yep, I can't see him making that kind of money that old and coming off surgery. He realistacally could be a cap casualty; not out of the question.

Well we can't cut an IR player. It would have to be a buyout...injury settlement.
