Good point.

The difference: Miami fans (and those of most other teams) don't obsess over every single miss that Tannehil/their QB has during a game, then talk about them for another 7 days on their team forums till the next one.

This. It is the most annoying part of the carolina fan base. Miami fans have accepted tannenhill as the franchise qb so they don't obsess over all of his overthrows.

The point of what he said was that those same qb's that you mentioned also have their high throws and misses that go for interceptions too. None of the qb's you listed is perfect and only one of them even got to the superbowl. Posters forget about that when they compare newton to the qb's you listed.

I am aware of what you are posting, I watch almost every single NFL game every season.

Those quarterbacks you just listed combine for a total of 62 years in the NFL.

Considering what Cam has accomplished so far, and the fact that he is only entering his fourth season, we have a lot to be thankful for.

I totally agree.

But would it be foolish for us to not hope that Cam get's to those levels (passing consistency) one day, and becomes the most feared offensive player in the NFL?

I will not compare Cam to shitty QB's, he is not in that level.  He is a really good/great QB knocking on the door of "elite".  I will compare him to the elites.

And yes, I am happier than most could imagine that Cam is our QB.

Unfortunately, I don't think this (the bold) is what they're talking about/aspiring to. And even those QB's make bad/WTF throws during games. It's part of the game. Misses Happen.

Of course all QB's make boneheaded plays.  No one is disputing that, but the guys I listed are very very good passers, some of the most complete in the NFL.  I'm waiting for Cam to have that crazy 30 TD season with 15 or less INT's.  That's all I'm talking about.

As an example: Tom Brady is awful when he doesn't have time with a pass rush in his face (as most QB's), as the Giants showed once again during his last Superbowl appearance. Just god awful! We saw Drew Brees play horribly with many wild over and under throws playing outdoor in the playoffs in 2013 as well. You can say the same for Peyton Manning the same year. And Let's not even talk about Phillip Rivers, who up until this year,  was horrible the past few seasons, etc.

Now Aaron Rodgers, he's damn near perfect! Lol.

Point is: All QB's have their weaknesses, especially when they're exploited (better defense, or teamates not doing their jobs). And I don't see Cam's high throws under pressure when he doesn't have his feet set as some disproportionate Fatal Football Flaw, especially when I see most QB's in the NFL do it on the regular (wither they're balls are actually caught or not). It's the truth.

We also have to keep in mind, many times Cam will make more out of less than all those QB's mentioned above (with the exception of Aaron Rogers). However, unlike RG3, Kaep and Russell Wilson, Cam can excel sitting in the pocket throwing darts. He just needs the line and WR's who can help and keep him doing that on the regular. He's already shown this.

I don't think anyone is suggesting comparing him to shitty quarterbacks, but simply putting comparisons into a complete perspective. No one is perfect. It's also important to note the recent ankle procedure he had, that should help him quite a bit with the passing consistency going forward.

OK (the bold).

Give Cam a better OC, receivers and offensive line, if you wanna see it right now.

Give him a few more years, if you want so see it with the current crop/teammates.

And if we're lucky, the new receivers, and hopefully a new offensive philosophy, will push Cam toward those numbers in 2014.

You notice how good Phillip Rivers got, when Whisenhunt showed up as head coach, after sucking the past few years?

You notice how Brees, was a nobody until he hooked up with Sean Payton?

You ever wonder how well Brady would do if he ever went to another team (considering how low he was drafted)? C'Mon, I know you have.

Even Aaaron Rogers, who I think is great, appears to play in a great system for GB QB's. Just look at what his back up did the other day when he started (500 yards), then gets beat out by a neophyte in R. Wilson during his rookie season, who was just learning the ropes at the time behind Marshall Lynch (still is, as Wilson and Seattle play off their strong run game/RB).

I don't think many other QB's could have came to Newton's Carolina team, and put up the numbers Newton did with his line and receiving corps. Unfortunately, Rivera didn't know how to win, and embraced defeat while in the jaws of victory, so many times.

Newton is not a system QB. He can step onto any NFL team, if you took their QB away, and make them better. His combination of size, strength, speed, elusiveness, pocket presence (in his own way), and arm makes him totally unique in the NFL, covering most/all basis's.

This is what so many Panthers fans miss, and makes them a bit ridiculous and inexcusable. It's not like the Panthers were some world beater team that will except nothing except "Da Best", therefore they scrutinize everything.

And for the record: Newton could still miss high, and throw for 30TD's with 15 INT's.

Yes, we all wish him to do better. However, we have to keep things in perspective (his tenure, teammates, system, coaching, and opposition).
