This catch makes me feel at ease.

You know even though people wanna say Cam's footwork is bad, id imagine its superhuman for someone with an ankle injury. The fact is now that he is healthy I personally believe that now he can correct his footwork, and his accuracy issues will be a thing of the past. But his ability to compensate even when not 100% is truly to be admired.

All this talk about Cam's high throws and I do agree that he sometimes had the ability to throw balls high, and I think it is safe to say that it came from him not having his feet properly set to do so. I believe the surgery will actually help decrease some of those high, errant balls that we have been use to seeing. The great thing is though, when he does throw them high, it has already been proven that Benjamin, Cotchery, and Avant can stretch out and make those catches.

I am not going to say that Cam is as accurate as other TOP QBs in the league--Cam was inaccurate during many games-I don't blame the OL as much as I do the WRs.  I read a stat recently that said his QB rating dropped dramatically-way more than other QBs--after holding the ball for more than 3 seconds.

Big QBs have more difficulty with their mechanics in their lower body than smaller qbs.  So, when Cam's rhythm is broken by a pass rusher or covered receiver, he mentally prepares to run.  Standing in the pocket is something he tries to do and I think he does well, but have you noticed how much he tends to throw off his back foot when he does?

I think Gettlemen answered this question when he cut Smitty and let the other 3 WRs walk.   The WRs were not getting open--Lafell could not beat single man coverage vs., the other team's #2--Smitty slowed and was often thrown to when covered, and Ginn's routes took a while to develop.  Heck, Cam did not have the run game we all think he had--RBs averaged 90 yards per game for us--Cam averaged 37 or so.  Teams were blitzing because our WRs posed no threats.  So people blamed the line more than they should because they had 2 reserves and Bell up front.  The problem was--the defense didn't need but 4 players to cover our receivers/TEs.  They could walk 8 into the box.

Our top 3 WRs caught 9 balls per game.  In Denver, the top 3 caught 18 per game.  In Denver, they also rushed for 120 yards per game--and they did all this without a LT for most of the season.

Cam needs good WRs and a good line to be good, but I think the line issue is not as big as others think.  Cam did not have anyone to throw to--so he checked down to Olsen, who had a career year.  But the main reason Cam was off was because his rhythm was broken--most QBs throw the ball well before the 3 second mark--but Cam held it a lot.  Remember that some of Cam's big rushes would have been sacks with another QB.

So Cam's accuracy will only improve as the WRs get better.  LT?  sure, but time was not Cam's enemy much in 2013 as much as nobody being open was.

Cam Newton was more accurate than Matt Schaub, Sam Bradford, Alex Smith, Tom Brady, Ryan Tannehill, Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, Joe Flacco, Matthew Stafford, Colin Kaepernick, and Eli Manning for the 2013 season.

Schaub, Smith, Tannehill, Luck, Stafford, Kaepernick, and Manning also were QBs that were LESS accurate than Newton who had the luxury of having a true "#1" WR on their team (Johnson, Bowe, Wallace, Hilton, Megatron, Boldin/Davis/Crabtree) unlike Newton.

"Cam is not an accurate passer" is a myth.

But... If he gives it to him over the middle too many times like that, KB will end up on IR. LB and S will kill him.

That's many of the over the middle throws and catches he's made in college. In most cases he's taken a hit but he's gotten positive yards surprisingly. He's a huge body, it will take more than a DB to take him down.

True.

I love how people (even Panther fans) love to point out Cam's high balls, as if it's something unique to him.

Just watch the Sunday ticket and red zone every weekend, or even the Playoff's. QB's all over the league (elite, good, bad, indifferent) throw high and under thrown balls all the time, but they're caught on the regular, so no one mentions it or cares.

I agree with what you're saying.  I remember whenever I'd see Miami play, I noticed that Ryan Tannehill had a number of balls that were overthrown to his receivers each game.
