I really don't get you guys. We work out one guy... not necessarily even signing him, and you guys are freaking out already? Even if we do sign him, he's not gonna make any more than the vet minimum. I don't really see any problems here.

Good lord, a Bear OT? Does any team have a worse OL than the Bears?

Oh yeah... :(

The Bears OL was a complete turnstile last year. Anyone from that OT from that team would actually be a down grade from Bell and the other Tackles on our roster, even the UDFA.

Threaten to sign the one guy worse than Bell.

Well played, Dave, well played.

But wait .... he's big ... he's a hog molly and they win games.  Look for a release later today that Butterbean is visiting next week.

Gettlemen can't fix everything at one time.

He's fixed the D-line.  And we drafted Kony so he doesn't have to fix it again in a year or two.  It seems that everyone fails to realize is that the way you get good is to draft really good football players.

You don't pass up a really good player (who you have have a 1st round grade on) for an average player (whom you have a 2nd/3rd round grade on) just because you have a need at that position.

Let's just assume the players you draft are worth the grade the team has pegged them at.

You draft Kony who has a first round grade.  Next year we get a tackle in the 1st round who has a first round grade.  2 years later we have two first round talents starting on the team.

Now, let's say you pass on Kony and take Moses whom you have a low 2nd/3rd round grade one.  Next year you take a DE in the first round who has a 1st round grade.  2 years later we have a pro bowl DE and an average tackle.

Gettlemen has said it over and over and over.  When you reach you get burned.  I want some better players on the O-line too but not at the expense of having a great team year in and year out. If you don't have to replace guys you reached on in the draft every few years you end up being able to pick great players even if they're not a need because you don't have any needs.  This is what the 49's and Seahawks have done.  We're doing it too even though we still have needs because in about 2 years we're going to be loaded for bear instead of reaching to plug holes on players we reached on to begin with to "fill a need".

Now, on to Webb.  Bears fans opinions mean less than nothing.  Webb isn't the worse tackle in the league.  Far from it.  He's young and improving.  Cam is very mobile.  We just drafted a RB who excels at picking up the blitz and blocking.  He'll be a lot better here than he was in Chicago.  Gettlemen has an almost perfect record in getting low cost free agents who play good to great.  At the very worst case Gettlemen is doing what he does best.  Churning up the bottom of the roaster for depth and diamonds in the rough.

My problem is that I don't trust our offensive coaching staff to get the best out of him.  If he was on the D-Line, I'd trust it a little more.

With that said, it's competition.  Bring him in.

Matsko has a pretty good reputation in the NFL.  I mean, look at the talent he's been working with.  Based on the talent available, our OL played about as well as we could hope last year.

So we overlook guys like Antonio Richardson and James Hurst, only to potentially bring in this guy?  That makes as much sense as this next sentence.  Jjiojjiojd joiojshh hueuen ljtilighit liosepkzzoj dond;'jondojdfjqjeoj!

NBC Sports, May 14, 2014:

"The Vikings didn’t rush to re-sign tackle J’Marcus Webb when he became a free agent, but the door to a return may still be open. Adam Caplan of ESPN reports that Webb visited with the team on Wednesday to discuss a return after playing in eight games for the Vikings in 2013.

Webb started one of those games and would likely again be ticketed for a backup role... His shot at that backup role wouldn’t be blocked by any draftees as the Vikings moved in other directions during the draft. ... Webb started 44 games for the Bears between 2010-2012 and struggled at left tackle before Chicago signed Jermon Bushrod to replace him before last season. He’s also visited with the Chiefs this offseason."

from the comment section:

HaHaHaHaHa… this guy is Soooo bad.

Good grief. I hope he was only stopping by to apologize.

(Bears fan:) Webb’s not even good enough to be on our practice squad anymore. But you can have him Minn.

Please re-sign him…Bears fan.

Perfect fit for the Vikings. Please sign that turnstyle

Nice guy, terrible football player.

I hope MN passes on him

Webb is done.

As a Viking fan, my only response is, “Uh, no”.

We don’t want him.

The Vikings have enough turnstiles at the gates of their stadium, they don’t need to employ another one on their offensive line. Webb not only sucks, but sucks so bad that even the Vikings don’t want him anymore.
