wouldn't Webb be an upgrade over Bell?

Webb

rookie (RT/12 starts) - gave up 48 pressures, 12 sacks

2nd yr (LT/16 starts) - gave up 30 pressures, 12 sacks

3rd yr (LT/16 starts) - gave up 29 pressures, 7 sacks

Bell

2013 (RT/14 starts) - gave up 46 pressures, 9 sacks

*Bell's 46 total pressures were the most of any Panthers offensive lineman.

LT vs RT

Why all the optimism about chandler playing LT? Converted from Dline a couple years ago and has only played part-time at guard. Now he is going to be an upgrade over Bell and our answer for OT.??. As CC would say ... cmon man.

That just tells you how bad the other options are.  No one is optimistic about Chandler at LT, we just know that Bell at LT would almost certainly be a complete disaster.

Chandler and Josh Norman are our unofficial pre-season offensive and defensive MVPs.  That goes to show you how much you can read into preseason performances.

You guys do realize that Gettleman knew what this team had at tackle before the draft.

I still have confidence in Gett.  Until he gives me reason not to.

Gettleman is probably sticking to his plan.  Now, I am sure his plan had Gross at tackle in 2014, but poo happens.

He was the backup to Gross before injuries forced him to RG. He may or may not be the answer, but he's our best choice atm.

Most likely, DG is going to load up with re-treads and throw crap against the wall, hoping something sticks. We could luck out with a team eventually cutting a decent OT, but that is unlikely. I suspect we'll go into preseason with competition and if it's a trainwreck, DG will trade a 2015 pick for a quality backup from another team. The huddle will declare him a genius and claim that was always the plan because we were getting comp picks anyways.

Swing tackle? How would that affect our scheme if anything? Im not an expert on schemes or styles etc anyone care to explain that?

Swing tackle would handle both LT and RT some, and usually the back up for both.
