Manziel mania: Why the phenomenon?

Can we please stop the Manziel dick sucking????

Cam is a (100x) bigger, faster, stronger versions of what he is yet everyone denounces him as a sure failure in the NFL

Even Cam who is just as quick yet more explosive and faster than Manziel has had to adjust due to the closing speed of NFL defenses

What do you think is going to happen to Johnny?

Lighten up, it's sports, you are supposed to be entertained by the players. It's not "dick sucking" to be entertained by an athlete.

Cam isn't 600 ft tall dude.

I hope Manziel is great in the pros. It's not often you get to see a small white guy juke world class athletes out of their shoes.

I think that's the gorilla in the room that everyone is trying to avoid. This is the only logical reason for his popularity. Being a small white guy, as you stated, juking all those big black guys in college, people are curious or even praying that he's able to do the same in the pros. I, for one, don't think he'll be able to juke those monsters for a prolong period, but one has to be curious whether he can or awaiting the time he fails. Most people know he'll fail but hoping on the slim chance that he doesn't. Very similar to T3bow.

One thing that doesn't work in Manziel coming out with all the hype is that not only his teammates try a little less hard for him, the opponent take it personal and go at him harder. One thing I remember hearing a lot of during the Linsanity period is that the black players would go at him extra hard so he would struggle at time. Right now Lin is just one of the guys. If Manziel can overcome the first wave of personal vendetta, not crumble and disappear into oblivion, he can create a nice career for himself.

Teammates aren't going to try less hard for him. They want to win so they can get paid more. Everything you hear about Manziel is that his teammates at A&M really like him and players in the nfl are always talking about how much they like the guy.

He's someone you can love to hate. If you want to see him take the Browns to the Super Bowl or if you want to see him decapitated, he puts butts in seats.

Personally I cannot stand him.

Everyone's always looking for the next big thing, and he almost has an "underdog" feel to him.

metaphorically speaking?

If that's the way of saying you disagree, ok. He didn't do anything that hasn't been done before.

He was the first Freshman to ever win the Heisman.

Most games with 300 or more passing yards and 100+ rushing yards,

Eclipsed the 7,000-yard barrier in total offense in his 19th career game, which is the fastest in NCAA FBS history

Most total yards in an SEC game ever

There's quite a bit more. All you have to do is search...

Hes not average, he broke cam's record as a redshirt frosh for gods sake. But hes extremely entertaining to watch, and im not sure if some of you in your 30s and 40s can relate, but as a college kid, people my age adore him because he fits that whole college boy/frat guy persona. For whatever reason, people have some illusion of johnny manziel shotgunning 5 beers then going out and throwing for 400 yards and then ending the game by banging aj mccarrons girlfriend

I like him in part because of some of the irrational hate he gets reminds me of Cam.

Apparently all this kid does is run around and chuck up air balls to Mike Evans, Mike Evan made Johnny Football. Yet he passed for almost 8000 yards and 60+ TD's in the SEC. Its amazing how easily people forget that Ryan Swope was his go to guy the previous year.

He gets bonus points from me for the Alabama game too. That was just an awesome game. He's just fun to watch dammit, like he has a 6th or 7th sense out there. I hope a bunch of teams regret passing on him. I really feared Tampa would take him.
