Does talent trump trouble?

Meh I could lie and get on my high horse and pass judgement but the truth is if he crushes Matt Ryan's face on Sunday, I am going to fuging yell and cheer and flip-off Falcon fans. I have never and will never physically harm my wife and the situation with Hardy is pretty pathetic and sad, but the truth is I want the Kraken to break Drew Brees in half.

The guy has a problem with alcohol.  Anyone who denies this fact may have as well.

Yup another denier.

Not denying anything (lest I be hung up at the witch trial too) but at this point all I have heard is that he was inebriated and had been out drinking.  What additional information do you have that constitutes he has a "problem with alcohol"

I am just glad we did not lock him down for 5 years at $70 million.

I have not drank alcohol since college, quite a few years ago.  I can say that this kind of thing happens in that circle, but since quitting, I never see it.  I quit because I could not handle it.  The best thing about the first beer was that I knew I had 11 more.  SInce ,my mom was an alcoholic, I decided to quit during a hangover and that was that.  People seem to think they can handle alcohol and many do, but it puts you into situations like this quite often.

Hardy is the Gary Bussey (spelling?) of the NFL.  Do you pay him a ton?

Only someone who's around him on a daily basis would know if he has a drinking problem or not. The judge who sent him to AA sure doesn't know. This incident does validate the concerns that teams had about him before the draft though. Hopefully it shakes him up and prompts him to straighten up his act.

If he doesn't abstain from the booze and the all nighters the Panthers will get rid of him...period. I am not passing judgement on him,I was wild as hell in my twenties also......difference I wasn't making 13 million and in the public eye.He needs to get straight now before he throws it all away.

Social media has gotten to the point it can ruin a athletes image alone. He puts up pics on IG of him vacationing, shopping, hangin out and its gets turned into some sort of negativity When nobody here knows what he does on a regular basis. Its pretty stupid.

It depends on the trouble versus talent.  Just like the hot vs. crazy scale...

Fact is, Hardy DFU'd.  To what extent, we don't know.  He's going to have a much harsher judge in his employer (Richardson) than the court of law.  Talent wise, he's borderline elite.  He's ready to ascend to become one of the best players in the NFL.  The question the team has to answer:  is he worth it.

There's a lot we'll never know, but I'm willing to bet the Panthers will find out every dirty detail.  And I bet Greg is going to pony up the video and everything else.  He's got to prove to the team that he didn't do it, that he's clean, and that it will NEVER happen again.  Before the team gives him any more money, he's going to have to show the changes he's making, and prove that he's grown up.

Legally, as someone said else where, this will probably be settled out of court, and the case never go to trial because of the circumstantial nature of the evidence.  The court of public opinion has already put him in Ray Rice territory.  He's going to have to prove to Mr. Richardson and Gettleman that he did not lay hands on her, and that he's never going to put himself a similar position.  He'll play out the year on the franchise tag (if he's not cut soon), and he'll have until then to prove that he's different from the guy who got arrested.
