Fair enough. Boldin is better than Smitty at this point though. The one read and run is something Harbaugh and Roman encourage at least sometimes. You don't know if you win that game if Vernon stays in. What if Cam doesn't throw an interception that game. Very well could have been 13-6. You lost the NFC championship because of Kap and you had Crabtree, Boldin and VD in that game. He made his plays but he also made his bonehead plays. LOB Is a hell of a secondary though. I'm not saying Kap is bad but he does have to get better if your going to make it out of the NFC now. Seattle stopped Gore and forced Kap to beat them. He didn't. I'll bet ya Cam out gains Kap throwing this year even with all your weapons.

Yup. Sherman made a great play and got his hand on the ball. It happens. But to put the game on that one throw when Kap was the only reason we had a chance is dumb. He did start trying to force things towards the end bug he needed to make plays. He didnt turn the ball over until after the defense gave up the lead he gained on that stupid 4th down free play.

Yeah of course he can get better. He hasnt even been behind center 2 years yet. I never said he was perfect, but the way yall talk about a kid thats already top 10 in every category except attempts, yds, and completion percentage is ridiculous.

Its interesting that theyre solid at every position except QB. I find myself always checking on their progress just so that I can answer that age old question of how much weight a QB carries on his team. Whats his real value? So far I would guess somewhere between 20% to 30%.

I think that there is a little "hate" underneath the surface in your post. In the game against the Colts, Smith was the play maker (and thet's not the first time I've seen him make plays), and this is with Bowe as arguably his only real WR and JC out. The loss wasn't on him. He did enough to win.

From the worst team in football to the playoffs in a year's time is more than about playing "easy" defenses, but even still, the Chiefs faced four of the league's top 10 defenses last year during their nine game win streak.

You can play down Smith all you like. I kind of expect that from a 49er fan given the situation. Whatever it takes to make you feel better. The fact is, is that the top tier QBs would have won it all if they had what Kaepernick had at his disposal later in the year, and the same can be said for several second tier QBs (Smith and Cam included). Kaepernick was the sole reason y'all lost to the Seahawks, and if he shows the same lack of progression this year that he displayed last year, he will be your undoing again, notwithstanding an even stronger arsenal.

Yeah smith looked great dumping it off to charles. KC played garbage teams during that win streak and they all had their backup qbs in when they faced kc. Not only that but their defense was forcing like 7 turnovers a game at that time. Again tell me when alex himself looks good against good defenses, not his team.
