meh

it was assumed the boys were going to target a d-end thus Ealy was always a target

Turner is someone a lot of people liked

this isn't really news it's just because it's the cowboys

in related news Panthers coveted Bills prospect Sammy Watkins

The Cowboys aren't that bad at drafting I don't think. They're just dysfunctional everywhere else.

Side note: I really, really wanted Morris Claiborne to fall to us the year we got Luke. I thought he was a can't miss stud.

I'm not sure I like the fact that we did what the Cowboys would have done.

In previous years, I'd agree.

This year they actually did a decent job of drafting.

(heard it said somewhere that Jerry kept his nose out for once)

the same guy, COO Stephen Jones, said said the Cowboys liked Northern Illinois safety Jimmie Ward as a possible second-round pick, but he went off the board 30th overall in the first round to San Francisco. “After that, we felt like we were getting a lot of what we had,” Stephen Jones said.

Yet, Dallas didn’t see safety as a “need position,” passing on a safety at R 1.16, R 2.2, R 4.19, R 5.6, R 7.16 and R 7.23, waiting until the 33rd pick of the 7th round to draft Baylor safety Ahmad Dixon.

“I feel pretty comfortable there,” Stephen Jones said after the draft about the Cowboys’ safety position. “More comfortable than people from the outside looking in.

With Dallas about to pick 16th overall, the Cowboys were on the phone with Ohio State linebacker Ryan Shazier’s agent.

Shazier’s father told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette he was in the middle of a text that said Dallas was taking his son when the phone rang. And, in a heartbeat, Shazier was drafted by the Steelers one pick in front of the Cowboys.

That makes no sense-if they traded a pick to move up for Lawrence--to reach for Lawrence--then Ealy would have been there -- if they liked him that much, why not wait until Ealy or Lawrence were drafted and then move up for the other?

In essence, the chose Lawrence over Ealy and their third rounder, who would have been Turner.  So they think Lawrence is > Ealy and Turner.

Confirming that Jones is an idiot for yet another season.
