Can the McNutt get some love?

So they could not make the squad on two other teams and could not get playing time on the panthers 28th ranked offense either?

Not holding my breath.

I didn't know players you pick up in the middle of the season off teams practice squads come in and get playing time.

Precisely. They don't because the vast majority do not pan out.

But they are being compared to early to mid round draft picks by people in this thread.

Do early to mid round draft picks get playing time? If so, what does that say about this argument?

Oh come on Zod. They both were brought in later during the season. Had to learn the offense before getting on the field and nobody was hurt until Smitty the last game. Where Mcnutt did get on the field.

There is a plan for both players I promise. Bringing in Crotch and Avant wasn't just for KB'S transition to a starting role. There is a plan for Mcnutt and King here.

Not saying they will work out, most don't, but it seems like you're writing them off already because they didn't give you instant gratification. Success doesn't come immediately for a lot of players, especially young wide receivers.

Gettleman will give them a chance. Training camp should be fun to watch.

Oh I agree. We are waiting to see if they develop into something worth putting on the field.

However, one or both will not be on the squad come September.

I feel like people are putting the same hopes/ expectations on McNutt and King, as they did on Gettis. Hope it works out better than last time.

Receivers who make it in the NFL shows flashes their rookie years, lacking in consistency. These two guys have shown neither with 3 teams.

They are a long shot to produce this year. I hope they do, I hope they are all pros, but as of this moment they would be lucky to make the final roster.

I think you missed the angle he was going for.  If we claim anyone off waivers mid-late season they aren't going to just come in and get playing time but there's a reason we brought them in regardless whether to be fodder or have the potential to contribute.

McNutt was a 6th and King was a 5th.  They were touted as much as the 5-7th rounders in their respective class which was only a year ago which is what MH is prob trying to allude to.  If we drafted Devin Street or Abbrederis in the 5-7th, this board would be all over them when the expectations are pretty much the same imo except maybe being safe for a season.

I agree with you though..one will be here and I don't see both making it.  I like King but watch out for Philly Brown!

There is a difference between a 5th rounder who has never suited up in a pro uniform and a 5th rounder who failed to make a single catch his rookie year in terms of hopes and expectations.

Agreed. I think Gettis showed a little something as a rookie, but whether it was the injury or something else, his development stopped there. I'm not expecting much from either to be honest, but if one of them can turn in to a decent #2, we're ahead of the game.

The difference: a year
