The Leftovers - New HBO Show

Confusing, but some of the things were pieced together or guessed at rather easily (like the Wife being in GR right off the bat). I read the Wiki on the book last night to help explain some things, and it's only going to get weirder, but since it's HBO I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and hoping it turns into something great.

I had a really hard time watching that.

It was like the director is taking a "Lost" type plot and adding some artsy-fartsy elements to it.

I kept convincing myself to try to like it, given it is HBO and the original concept is cool sounding.

I will give episode 2 a shot, but if it continues down it's weird path, I will likely give up and wait for the season to end and catch peoples reviews...

Well, Damon Lindelof is producing this so there's your "Lost" vibe.

From what I've read, it's only going to get weirder. Sure there will be answers along the way, but I'd bow out now if the weirdness deters you.

I thought it was excellent. They captured the mood well. If 2% of the population disappeared, it wouldn't be the end of the world, but the mood would be awfully somber as most people would have been affected in some way.

i was in like 3rd or 4th grade when i first saw it. boobs weren't all that back then. you know, those jokes went over a 4' head

Boobs werent all that? I guess i was sexualized early bc i got in trouble drawing boobs in second grade. I knew i wanted to kiss girls naked early on(second grade version of what sex is)

Speaking of old HBO shows how about 1st and 10..the football comedy.. It was really edgy in the 80's when Delta Burke catches her husband having sex with ne of the football players...and he tells her " uh... this is Joe...he is the tight end" She says "yeah I bet he is!" and divorces him and is the owner of the team.

The leftovers was ok first episode bit I cannot stand even looking at people chain smoking so it was repulsive to me. It was god for me to watch a few more but the somber pacing is not good long term even though Im a fan of an even slower paced "The Killing"

And did I see hate for "The Wire?".

Show has potential.  Give it time.  Probably a slow burner.  Who really knows how everyone would react when this happens?  The religious wouldn't understand why they didn't get taken (I'm assuming they'd think it's the rapture) and the unreligious would be worried about not having a faith (if they think it was the rapture and maybe it's too late for them).  Then you have the people that are like "what even matters now, guess I'll just mindlessly carry on".   But EVERYONE would completely feel helpless and realize there is SOME kind of force and their life isn't exactly their life.

Then you have the animals starting to pack together and hunt, as if they don't view humans like they once did, like we're on even ground now.  Who knows where this show will go, but I'm interested in a show that I can't figure out in the first episode, that doesn't happen often.

Just hope the payoff will be better than Lost lol.

If you want boredom, watch The Wire. Slowest show ever. I stopped half way through season one.

sorry to have to tell this to you but you're in the minority on this one.
