Yahoo Sports has our O-line (positon group) as the "most muddled" post-draft

Carolina Panthers offensive line — There are so many unknowns. The team did its best to fill needs via the draft but also made most of its selection based on talent and how the board lined up, hence defensive end Kony Ealy (a steal in the Panthers' minds) over and O-lineman. Left tackle is anyone's guess; it could be Byron Bell or Nate Chandler (cough), or it could be a veteran on another team, such as the Titans' Michael Roos. But salary cap space is an issue. Left guard might be Amini Silatolu, but he's coming off an ACL. Third-round pick Trai Turner is being worked at center, as Ryan Kalil's backup, and as a possibility at right guard, where he could battle with Chris Scott. Right tackle could be Bell, Chander or maybe Garry Williams. Yuck. That's a lot of figuring out to do. Cam Newton had better heal nicely from ankle surgery, because he might need to evade a few free rushers this season.

Well...the FO will get it together...

At least we're not the Browns.

trai turner is being worked at center as a back up to kalil?

really?

I'd assume it's to see if he can function there as needed since Piggy and Byers are gone. I'm certain he'll spend the bulk of his time at G. DG needs to know if he has to go shopping for a back up to Kalil.

I don't think yahoo got the Turner projection correct.

Actually I think I heard someone mention during the draft that he was the backup center in college so it makes sense to have him back up Kalil as I don't think we have one now. But you're right, he will be a guard for us.

Actually the Observer had a post draft depth chart with Turner as the backup center. Now I don't know if that was correct. The writer of the article may have gotten his information from the Observer.

If that is correct it makes his pickup even more valuable considering Byers and Piggy retired. I hope Kalil plays all season since he is the only true seasoned veteran with Pro Bowl talent, but we need a backup.

That Folkerts dude was the backup center in waiting. Maybe they are finally cashing out on him,

Man we have a misfit line :-(

This is NOT what you want your franchise quarterback standing behind when we play New Orleans and their aggressive blitzing defense.

We will be serviceable at G-C-G but that's because Kalil is just that good. Our OT situation is as bad as I can ever remember on paper.
