There's no way we're carrying 5 RB's on the 53

Oh, okay. If you say so. With how you and so many others talk about our Oline?

Plenty of backs get lots of touches and can't produce. RBs may be a dime a dozen, but plenty of teams don't have one.fact

again, you talk as if WIlliams is still the 2008 guy.  He isn't.

Plenty of average/no-name RBs have achieved 1000+ all purpose yards when given the reps (behind good, bad, and everything else inbetween OLs)

His time is coming to an end.  Just like I told you 89's likely would if he didn't retire early.  That isn't hate.

OK, but money is a reality and it is definitely hurting the team. Time to fix the money problem with little to no drop off in production. All I'm saying

You can't "fix the money problem" by simply cutting Williams and Stewart and immediately absorbing the enormous cap hit. Also there is no guarantee that there will be "little to no drop off in production" as Barner and Gaffney are unproven as of right now.

Lol stewaarlt isn't elite on the side line. And its not like Dlo lights it up. Production bud. Don't need two 1st rounders

notice i said once were*. but even now i have more faith in them than some dumpster rbs everone thinks will pan out just because gettleman picked them.

Look man. I love double trouble. I had so much pride in them and it really sucks that it has to be this way. Not claiming you think otherwise of me, and not that it really matters anyway, just wana set it stright.

I'm just going off what my idea is going forward and guessing what gettleman is thinking.

I'm not claiming we should cut Dwill and stew straight up. There would be some serious cap hits and it would be counter productive to do so especially at once. Dwill could be gone this June 1. its a possibility, His hit is much easier to swallow than stew. Stew could be gone next season, or he could stay on the field, and earn his money. going on a tangent here.

barner could very well not be the answer, but im excited to see what he brings to the table when he actually gets some reps. 6 snaps for a bran spankin new rookie drafted in the sixth round is not enough to evaluate, at all. I'n not even saying double trouble is up and gone this year. I'm saying gettleman drafted these guys to be the eventual replacements of these guys.

Thats the mindset I believe gettleman has and I agree with it. We get out of these contracts when feasible. rokies are rookies. especially in the 6th round. they are expected to contribuite, but that doesnt mean instantly.

the only thing that confuses me with you is that you call these guys dumpster RBs when you havnt seen them have a legitimate shot at some reps.

Im not saying these guys are going to be studs, I have no proof, time will tell, but what my 1 main point is that with what production Dwill and stew give us on the field, it is not hard to replace. YES i agree Dwill and Stew are more talented!

what I'm trying to do is defend the pick because people just asume Gettleman is pulling it out of his ass. There is stradegy and good logic behing it

If something can be replaced with little drop off, and saves millioms where we could sign a futre OT or stud WR, then do it! Gettleman believes he can replace them with running backs who were work horses and college and put up great numbers, then I can see where he is comming from

put this in perspective.

with the money Dwill and Stew make, granted they are good running backs, we could have two very solid starters in positions of need on the O-line

perhaps two Tackles? that would be nice!

I love the players, hate the contracts, they can be replaced for cheap in the near future

grooming their replacements

I agree with your logic. But there is reason these guys wernt heralded as top rb prospects. they just dont have it. now you can find good value late,i personally have more hope for the unsigned rb we signed than gaf.

But dude, RBs just aren't highly touted like they were. You can find a ton of late round, undrafted guys being really successful on other teams.

Have you seen Gaffney's numbers?

Hey, I get it. I've been a Lions fan for way to long. The Panthers have had more success in their short time than the Lions in all my time. You tend to get antsy and can't wait to have the success other team see.

But look at atl. and the aints. They have been around a long time, with very little success to show for it. So success is not a given. Some teams seem to get it. NE, GB, and to a certain extent the Giants and the Cowpatties. Sustained success is difficult.

We have Cam, and Gman. I would think the next 10 or so years should be successful. How successful is yet to be seen. But, I have faith that Gman knows what he is doing. Which should keep us on the right path for as long as he is here.

Just be thankful we aren't Clev. or Jax fans.

Being a Panthers fan is a blessing and a curse, but with our current core, we should be in line for a good decade or so to come.

Although I said the same thing when the core included guys like Dan Morgan, a younger Steve Smith and Muhsin Muhammad, Julius Peppers, etc, but I digress.

Those guys went to the NFC championship twice in three years. Its not like we were awful.
