There's no way we're carrying 5 RB's on the 53

bevause he's not good? I find it hilarious people think gaffney/barner can be as productive as Williams/Stewart are even still today when they aren't in their primes

Production dude. Production. You act like they make probowls on a regular. Stats, results. PRODUCTION.

not potential. 2008 DWill and even modern day stew have more talent no question. But at the end of the day, the ratio between production and money involved is retarded.

We can disagree, but barner/ gaffney would replace the production that injured stew and 2.0 ypc and one good run Dwill make. For peanuts.

And to say Barner/ gaffney suck before giving them a fair shot and some legitimate touches is jumping to conclusions.

But hey man, if you wana pay like an absurd amount of money for play on the field that we could get for peanuts, be my guest. Wait, actually no.

Well that's the thing, this is the first year in a while in which I legitimately don't think we have improved, at least yet. Safety is the only position that has gotten "better", although starting Harper might negate that.

Wide receiver, o-line, corner, RB? I don't see any improvement, just diminished positions and in RB's case, nature (aging) working against us.

And when I say dumb moves, I guess I'm going in a bit strongly there. Not dumb, but just... The wrong moves in the situation we were in.

Was our secondary a concern going into last year? Yuppers. Gman brought in some pieces that worked out very well.

IMO, the ONLY piece we may really miss is Mitchell. Every player we brought in has a chance to be solid or better. Our secondary is as good or better than last year.

RB...that is a sore spot. Some like me, like DWill and think he can still be productive. He did have almost 1200 all purpose yards last year. Gaffney has a chance to be a Stewy type clone. Maybe. But where it comes to RBs, Stewy is the wild card. IF he can get back to speed, we are definately better there.

WR? Outside of Smitty, we will miss none of them. KB, although only a rookie, should be a 1st down, and maybe a TD threat. That alone makes us better. IF he works hard and learns from Ricky? He may be much more.

Which brings us to that Oline situation. Amini was coming on last year, if he continues to grow, he will be good. Kalil? Nuf said. Turner? For what we do, he is more than adequate. Chandler and Bell? I like Chandler, and have heard he is bigger already this year. He really doesn't need much more size, just some experience. He is very athletic, and should do well.

Bell? Hope and a prayer there. He has improved every year. If that trend continues? He can hold the fort until we can upgrade.

To me the biggest question is play calling. We did well when we were diversified. Passing on 1st downs. Short 2nd and 3rds. Converted plenty. Moved the ball. If the new guy can keep Shula honest. We should be more consistent.

All and all. I am one happy little camper. And after over 20 years of marriage. I deserve it.

tl/dr version. Don't worry, be happy.

If it weren't for the money they make. Folks would be fine with DWill, and hopeful for Stewy.

I've been known to be pessimistic since the Jimmy Clausen era. Guess I'd rather be happily proven wrong than let down. I disagree with a lot of what you said, but eh.

Also, congrats on staying sane through 20 years of marriage. Hear that's a tough one to pull off

If DeAngelo keeps flapping those twitter lips, he's going to solve the running back abundance problem all by himself.

He's apparently in the middle of a "suicide by twitter" episode.

Fans on the internet seem to be the only ones concerned about twitter. Our FO is concerned about winning.

Hey, I get it. I've been a Lions fan for way to long. The Panthers have had more success in their short time than the Lions in all my time. You tend to get antsy and can't wait to have the success other team see.

But look at atl. and the aints. They have been around a long time, with very little success to show for it. So success is not a given. Some teams seem to get it. NE, GB, and to a certain extent the Giants and the Cowpatties. Sustained success is difficult.

We have Cam, and Gman. I would think the next 10 or so years should be successful. How successful is yet to be seen. But, I have faith that Gman knows what he is doing. Which should keep us on the right path for as long as he is here.

Just be thankful we aren't Clev. or Jax fans.

So just any ol' RB could have had almost 1200 all purpose yards last year? Sounds like he fit pretty damm well.

Even with the way Shula calls a game, DWill had a pretty good year.

Blame the line, blame Shula, blame DWill falling down when someone touches him. Blame it any way you want. 1200 yards is still a good year. And with a better line, he would have had an even better year.

You can hate him all you want. Until someone comes along that can replace almost 1200 all purpose yards, with our below average line, I will take DWill.

Yes, given those touches.....lots and lots of RBs could have 1000+ all purpose yards.

Oh, okay. If you say so. With how you and so many others talk about our Oline?

Plenty of backs get lots of touches and can't produce. RBs may be a dime a dozen, but plenty of teams don't have one.
