There's no way we're carrying 5 RB's on the 53

I'm willing to give Gettleman his fair share of praise for that Defense last year. He brought in the young guys and the vets that fit our scheme well, were very cheap, and produced at high levels. Whether you want to give him the credit or not, Getts knocked it out of the park in the FA signing area last season, and that's something Hurney was never good at.

Offense left me wanting, even though the guys he picked up in FA there contributed too. There's just so much money tied up in those damn running backs that we can't really fix any of our glaring offensive issues.

Folks want it fixed NOW. They don't want to wait for Gman to find the players he feels will make us better.

It is easier for folks to find fault for what they see as a lack of effort, than to have patience for this whole thing to be taken care of.

It is as if they blame Gman for not fixing the RB problem with just a wave of his magic wand. Poof, all those bad contracts are gone. LOL for the impatient.

I believe Williams gets cut at the end of 2014 season.

Stewart will remain with the panthers for 3 more season while Gaffney texperience and becomes the successor

Barner and draft will provide the successor for Williams.

Stewart 1,000yds + season (2014)

It may be all they need, but I for one will take a big play every now and then. No RB gets 3-4 yards every carry. Even Beast Mode has his bad plays.

What about DWill's ability on the screen passes? He is the ONLY RB we have that can get you a big play in that scenario.

NO RB gains positive yardage on every play. What about maybe mixing up the play calling. When we were on our 8 game winning streak we actually passed the ball on 1st down. Then DWill could gain yardage on 2nd and short. Then when we went all conservative and went back to running on 1st down, DWill got stuffed a lot more. There is more to it than just DWill.

Dude, you are a broken record. We all know you would rather DWill be gone than eat steak for dinner.

You conveniently forget how many times DWill gets wacked in the backfield. Or has no hole to run through up the middle. It is easier for you to blame DWill for bad running plays than to blame him having no where to run.

Hellz, even Tolbert had runs of no gain, or loss of yardage. But hey, let's not blame him. Let's put all the blame on DWill.

Watch Stewart run 20 times with no holes opening vs Williams.

Williams is old and doesn't fit our offensive mindset. He goes down. Not forward. He needs the team to create space for him.....and most NFL RBs can have success when that is setup for them

Why would we cut barner when our goal is to rid of those aweful contracts? If you are thinking completely short term without any co sideration for the future or for the cap, then go ahead and cross barner out.

bevause he's not good? I find it hilarious people think gaffney/barner can be as productive as Williams/Stewart are even still today when they aren't in their primes

Regardless I like the idea of picking up late round running backs every draft. If a good value is found start as high as the 4th. Once Stewart and Williams are gone do this every year.

It is hilarious that people try to claim Barner is no good.....when he hasn't played. Even DG said he would be a 2014 draft pick in reality....

Barner had 6 rush attempts. 6. 6 freaking rush attempts.

I can show examples of any RB on our roster looking like dog poo on 6 carries.

On those 6 rare carries they also ran him up the gut with no holes. He isn't Tolbert....which is why he went down hard. Like Williams does in those scenarios

So...it is okay for Barner to not have any holes to run through. But not DWill? Okay then.

If you hit a RB behind the line, with no forward momentum, it is damm near impossible for him to fall forward. You act like DWill goes down with a gust of wind. That is just not true.

We all know your distain for DWill. And his contract, which we all hate. But you do go above and beyond to paint him as bad.

Without DWill last year our running game is non existant. Everyone claims our Oline was bad, yet DWill had a decent year behind that line. You can't have it both ways. Well, YOU can. The rest of us can't.

DWill had almost 1200 all purpose yards last year. Yeah...he sucks.

Barner isn't here to be 3 down RB. He defiantly isn't here to be our 1st and 2nd down RB. He is hopefully here to be part of a real committee once we start getting rid of these RBs that handicap the team.

Issue is Williams is used as our 1st and 2nd down RB.

Instead of just trying argue a pro DWill stance.....look at what Shula does on offense and how an old Williams doesn't fit.

Williams does go down easily.

Without Cam....and Tolbert....our run game is a joke. Williams was just the dime a dozen RB getting the carries. Sure, create a huge lane in the pass game or ground game and he makes a great play.....but that goes for about anyone

Also I don't hate Williams....just like I didn't hate 89. This time last offseason I did however state what a realistic outcome was for 89 (and it just happened). You and others call it hate.....it is just a more realistic than fandom viewpoint

So just any ol' RB could have had almost 1200 all purpose yards last year? Sounds like he fit pretty damm well.

Even with the way Shula calls a game, DWill had a pretty good year.

Blame the line, blame Shula, blame DWill falling down when someone touches him. Blame it any way you want. 1200 yards is still a good year. And with a better line, he would have had an even better year.

You can hate him all you want. Until someone comes along that can replace almost 1200 all purpose yards, with our below average line, I will take DWill.

I just don't think that because we didn't improve at the Tackle position that we can't be better. We are improving. What more do you need?

Well that's the thing, this is the first year in a while in which I legitimately don't think we have improved, at least yet. Safety is the only position that has gotten "better", although starting Harper might negate that.

Wide receiver, o-line, corner, RB? I don't see any improvement, just diminished positions and in RB's case, nature (aging) working against us.

And when I say dumb moves, I guess I'm going in a bit strongly there. Not dumb, but just... The wrong moves in the situation we were in.
