There's no way we're carrying 5 RB's on the 53

Look man. I love double trouble. I had so much pride in them and it really sucks that it has to be this way. Not claiming you think otherwise of me, and not that it really matters anyway, just wana set it stright.

I'm just going off what my idea is going forward and guessing what gettleman is thinking.

I'm not claiming we should cut Dwill and stew straight up. There would be some serious cap hits and it would be counter productive to do so especially at once. Dwill could be gone this June 1. its a possibility, His hit is much easier to swallow than stew. Stew could be gone next season, or he could stay on the field, and earn his money. going on a tangent here.

barner could very well not be the answer, but im excited to see what he brings to the table when he actually gets some reps. 6 snaps for a bran spankin new rookie drafted in the sixth round is not enough to evaluate, at all. I'n not even saying double trouble is up and gone this year. I'm saying gettleman drafted these guys to be the eventual replacements of these guys.

Thats the mindset I believe gettleman has and I agree with it. We get out of these contracts when feasible. rokies are rookies. especially in the 6th round. they are expected to contribuite, but that doesnt mean instantly.

Williams is likely gone next year, and I have no problem with it, that's the nature of the business. Stewart all we can really do is hope that he will return to form and at least somewhat earn that contract that he is on. I don't think cutting Deangelo this year is a good idea, not with the current uncertainty of Stewart and the as of right now unknown prospects in Barner and Gaffney. Next year we will truly know where we are at, and can assess the position accordingly. I think right now though Barner has the most to prove, he's going to have to shine in training camp and preseason.

again, you talk as if WIlliams is still the 2008 guy.  He isn't.

Plenty of average/no-name RBs have achieved 1000+ all purpose yards when given the reps (behind good, bad, and everything else inbetween OLs)

His time is coming to an end.  Just like I told you 89's likely would if he didn't retire early.  That isn't hate.

You sure can spin things around can't you. I never once mentioned 2008. I said LAST year he had almost 1200 all purpose yards. Last year. C'mon man.

Plenty of RBs? Okay. You win. (You spout the same stuff every time. Even make things up to make your point.) Name one RB last year that had 1200 all purpose yards. Not AP or some Pro Bowler. Just some, what did you call them? Just some average/no-name back.

His time may be coming to an end. Of course it is. The man is 31. And he had a productive year last year. It may not have been good enough for you, but it was a damm fine year.

Dude, you are just too funny with your DWill hate.

His strategy seems to be doing anything that he can to keep Cam Newton from having a breakout season before his rookie contract's up.

But that's justified man. You don't like gaff and no one can fault you. He could suck. Who knows. I just try to defend gettleman picks because so many posters just bash the picks like there is absolutely no strategy or intelligence behind it.

Neither of the young guys will get a chance to even see the field without injuries to the position.

I can definitely see Gaffney on the field.  Having Tolbert and Gaffney out there on goal line situations is probably a good idea.  I have a feeling that people will be happy we have Gaffney as the season progresses.

I'm happy he's here.

I actually subscribe to the, "you can never have to many capable running backs," idea.

Just saw that noel devine aas trying out. He could be better than any of these backups on the roster.

If Devine makes it to TC he will be competing against Barner.  Problem With Devine is fumble issues and size.  He had some injuries at WVU and so he put on weight his finally two season.  That helped with his injuries but it slowed him down.  If he can find that happy medium he should be fine.  Tough player though plays through his injuries.

Yes, last year he was average. As I said, lots of average RBs can produce 1000+ total yards behind all kinds of lines with touches.

You act like Williams is still the 2008 guy. Yet ignore he isn't nor is he set up like he was then to have that success.

I'm on my phone. Will be back to answer your question....but my answer will include more than one year. You can pick up JAG roleplayers like Danny Woodhead and get 1000+ total yards with touches

And cost determines what is a fine year or not for a player

According to you Carolina hates 89. They just did to him what a realistically said was likely to go down......bc they did what made me "hate" him. LOL

There you go again bringing up 2008. All I have been talking about is LAST year. Behind what many believe was a sub-standard line. Give the guy some credit for what he accomplished last year. Or not.

And quit bringing his salary into it. There is nothing we can do about that. We, or I am at least, are talking about production. I said he had a pretty productive year LAST year. You keep comparing him to 2008. No he is not the same back. But he didn't fall off the map either.

Also, I never once mentioned any WRs. That is you bringing in things that have no bearing on the conversation. I, as many have, think the situation was handled badly. Smitty was too damm expensive for the next two years. So they made a decision. It was the right decision, just handled badly.

I don't like DWill's or Stewy's contracts either. But, at least DWill gave us plenty of production. LAST year.

1200 all purpose yards is a damm fine year. Just because you would rather walk in the rain than have him on the team does not discount what he gave us. Unitl someone can replace that much production, I will be happy to have him. His time is limited, his salary is prohibitive, sure. But the guy gave us plenty of production. LAST YEAR.

Salary/cost impacts what is a damn fine year.....

Giovani Benard, Joique Bell, Danny Woodhead, etc had good years. More yards than Williams....fraction of the cost. Those were good seasons.

Salary and cap impact of Williams means getting outperformed by those guys isn't a damn fine year

Sure there SOME guys that have cheap deals and have good years. There just are not as many as you may think. Besides Bell can't catch a cold, but he is a pretty good change of pace for Bush.

You cannot blame DWill for Hurney giving him a rediculous contract. Well, I guess YOU can.

Go ahead and downplay the fact that DWill had a damm fine year. You have been on this track for years. Just know that it is just your hate, not a fact, that dismisses the fact that DWill PRODUCED well last year.

If DWill would have had 300 or so less yards, I may agree with you. But only you, and very few others, would poo poo on 1200 yards. Where would we be as a team without those yards and plays?

If you give a JAG reps....he will get yards. See all over the league and even here in our history.

I don't blame Williams for being average and being paid to be elite. That is a Carolina issue....is speak in regards to Carolina fixing there issue.

YOU fixate on somehow that is hating Williams.
