It's the hardest. It requires you study ALL positions at every level.

Sure it's leverage. It means the Panthers won't be forced to make a bad decision because of a DE need.

i think options is the better term. you do not offer his worth he leaves, but yet you have a DE that could start already on the depth chart. so since it is leverage, you guys think Hardy should be offered a contract less then his worth from the panthers?

options is a better word, not leverage.

Same difference. Hardy now has a limit with which if he exceeds he won't get what he wants from the panthers

same question for you, since Ealy is now on the team, do you think the panthers should offer a low contract and not give him his worth?

No, it means Hardy's agent can't point out the glaring hole his client would leave behind to squeeze some more cash out of the deal. It also allows the Panthers to breathe a little easier about the possibility of losing a guy with no compensation. We have a replacement waiting in the wings.

Hardy's agent will ask that his client get his net worth tho. if the panthers decide to do so, or not will be the million dollar question. another question would be would they rather pay Hardy or Johnson?

No need to discuss the semantics between leverage and options. The point is they will not be forced to cave in to Drew's demands.

I'm not sure who argued for trying to now get Hardy on the cheap cause that ain't happening. What the Ealy pick does do is change the dynamic of the conversation. Hardy and agent owned all leverage and now at least the team can not look completely desperate and disingenuous by walking away from the table if negotiations go south.

it started with the panthers and leverage conversation, saying the panthers have it. i honestly believe it comes down to what Hardy believes he is worth. if the panthers are close to that number, he will tell Drew the make it happen. but if they low ball him, since they have a 2nd round rookie, he will walk.
