Yahoo Sports draft grades: Carolina atop the NFC South

My initial thoughts on NFC South

TB  Best

Carolina and Atlanta next

NO last

I like Carolina and Atlanta better than TB.

TB didn't use a single pick on defense.  There scoring defense last year was 20th in the league and 17th in the league in yards surrendered.  Its not like their defense didn't need any help.

It's called speculating. It's a pretty big part of being a sports spectator.

Speculating is just a fancy way of saying you don't have to be wrong or right, just give your opinion based on some obvious facts, and some predetermined notions. And being a sports spectator has nothing to do with that, anyone can do it. So draft grades from 'professionals' just seems like a joke to me.

what type of leverage did the team gain on Hardy? if if doesnt like the numbers the panthers offer, he will go some place that will offer those numbers.

Hence the leverage. Panthers aren't forced to overpay if that's how it plays out.

that is not leverage. he will get his worth, either from the panthers or some other team.

Whatever you feel like calling it will still apply. Whether he goes elsewhere or not, they are covered. What is not leverage is having no replacement and forcing oneself to overpay.

Wha?  Tampa and Atlanta's drafts were ok, far from killing it in my opinion.  If I were giving out grades, Carolina and Atlanta would get Bs, Tampa a B- and NO a D.

My reasoning...

Atlanta: Matthews is great, he's a gem that likely could've gone #1 over all most years. Hageman is first round talent and obviously ATL needs that defensive line help. Shembo (4th round) and Smallwood (7th round) are absolute steals at OLB, and the former wouldn't surprise me if he ended up starting at some point this year.

Tampa: I honestly would've taken Evans over Watkins straight up. He's going to be a monster, even for a QB-less Buc squad. Sef-Jenkins is overrated IMO, but that's a position of need for Tampa and he's a top 3 player at his position in this draft. Herron has ridiculous value in the 6th IMO. If he gets enough play time, he can be a star. Reminds me of Steve Smith, in that he might be undersized, but he's got quickness, an insane drive and motor, he fights for extra yards, he's not afraid to go up and steal a ball, etc.

Saints: Wasn't a fan of Brandon Cooks coming to Carolina, but he's probably a great fit for the Saints. Brees can feed him the ball with pinpoint accuracy, and he should be a monster after the catch. Apparently we all wanted Jean-Baptiste, and he should end up being a solid player. Fortt and Sunseri dropped because of injuries (Sunseri moreso because of ACL tear), so if their body's can hold up, they're potential steals.

For us, I think we did a little bit too much BPA. We shouldn't be picking up DE's and RB's when we have nobody at OT and a slim WR corpse.

Again, this is obviously personal opinion, so take it how you will. I was initially upset with taking Kuechly two years ago because it wasn't a position of need on a team with a million holes, but we all know how that turned out.

Fair enough, we're all entitled to our opinions.  I just happen to disagree with almost all of yours lol.  About the only things you said I agree with were about Matthews, not wanting Cooks in Carolina and Kuechly, heh.
